- Procedurally Generated Dungeons
- Tactical Decision Making
- Form parties with NPCs
- Deep RPG Combat Systems
- Extensive Crafting & Armory
- Mini-Games such as Fishing & Rune Tracking

- And much much more!

Check out our latest Alpha trailer!

Dragon Fin Soup is a hybrid experience that combines both turn-based dungeon crawl exploration and persistent story progression. Dragon Fin Soup comes with 2 distinct game modes. You can choose to unravel the tale of your chosen character in Story Mode. Survival Mode plays a classic roguelike with permanent death. The 1st tale begins with Red Robin, a cheerful yet raging alcoholic whose dark bloody past has come back to haunt her with a vengeance...

Grimm Bros is a micro indie studio of five veteran devs. Our small team has been working on Dragon Fin Soup for over a year with the help and support of our amazing friends and family. We have 3 great programmers, a freelance composer, and one guy who is doing ALL the graphics, sfx, and design!

In order to make the game really shine and add exciting new features and polish we launched a Kickstarter campaign with cool prizes and exclusive content for our backers! We hope you can check out our Kickstarter and talk to us. Send us your comments, ideas, or whatnot.  Any support is deeply appreciated. As a small indie with our limited resources its tough getting the word out.

Thank you so much for all of your time and consideration!

SNES style 2D Fairy Tale World in Full HD

I'm not even sure what this means.

How did you get away with naming your studio "Grimm Bros."? That's just... I don't know. It's strange is all. How do you plan to build an identity for yourself with a name so similar to the Grimm Brothers?

Also the fact that the graphics resemble an early 2000s cartoon is really putting me off.

EDIT:

I can't even count how many times I've heard the points in that feature list repeated on this site.

(Why did you post the exact same thing here twice?)

Anyways, you guys should probably make a game page for all of this as this type of thing is against the site’s rules in regards to advertising on the forums. The game itself looks pretty nice, but it’s not really my cup of tea. But I’m sure other people might be interested in this on here if you make a game page for it!

Just go to Submissions and then Submit Game. Couldn't be any easier. :)
Sadly not retro or SNES. Its modernized fake retro that is quite popular. I'm not sure SNES games had that sort of menu either. Typical dungeon crawlers do. It is a gorgeous game, but it is still an ad.

I was wondering if that's actually okay, because of all the platforms this is supposed to be on. I suppose it could be listed under "Other" or "Custom", but...

I dunno. I guess it wouldn't hurt to try to submit this as a gamepage?
This is fine. See, this is what a topic should look like for an out-side game - pictures, information and links. We allow games that are on differing platforms to use the forums to show off, as long as they put as much effort into the topic as someone would put into a game page.
The game looks pretty, and the title would net you an easy victory on Iron Chef.
Hey Everyone -

Thank you all for your input on the game and how can better promote it on this website.

@SnowOwl - The games art style is similar to old SNES in its look but the art quality is at HD level.

We have some exciting new updates!

We are in the Top 50 in Steam Greenlight and almost 75%+ towards our initial goal on Kickstarter! This is insanely exciting for us and as a thank you to all who backed us and others who believe in us we are sharing with you a FREE Dragon Fin Soup Wallpaper!

You can download the wallpaper at multiple resolutions here: http://dragonfinsoup.com/wallpaper.html

Enjoy!

Hey Everyone -

Fantastic news in this update!

Our game has been Greenlit on Steam and our Kickstarter has reached its goal with 22 days left to spare! However we want to keep the backing going because we really hope to reach some of our stretch goals. For example one of the features we would love to add is Morgiana from the Fairy Tale of Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves as a playable character! Morgiana will be a dual wielding Assassin class that will come a range of new weapons featuring Katana, Dao, Ōdachi, Katar, Sai, Kunai and other cool weapons.

Enslaved and trained as an Assassin and dancer Morgiana was used as a deadly weapon for as long as she remembers, until one day when she decided to turn her sharp blades against her oppressors. Her signature moves are short-range shadow teleportation and backstabbing. As a playable character Morgiana will have unique abilities and distinct play style.

Please share with your friends and support our Kickstarter to help bring this character to life!

So sorry about that. I will be sure to make sure that doesn't happen again

This is a silly. As long as it isn't spam, multi-posting shouldn't matter. It appropriately chronicles thread progression. When an edit is made, a thread isn't tagged as containing new information. Additionally, it doesn't visualize every edit with a unique timestamp--only the most recent. Allowing multi-posting provides more clarity and is only a problem in abuse scenarios, which this isn't.
Considering it was the last post in the thread? Within a day? No, it's not silly. If someone had posted after the last post, then fine. If it'd been a few days, then fine again. But that isn't the case and so it stands.
I also see it like Jude, for me the perfect rule is "double posting is encouraged as long as new information is added". But different forums different rules. :-)

Yes, it is silly. What compelling argument do you have against relevant, non-abusive multi-posting? Where is the harm? Here is the harm in forbidding multi-posting: Users are not informed that new information has been added to a thread.
Agree with Jude. Unless there is a way to update a thread when edits to the last post is made, there is no real reason to disallow relevant multi posting for any reasoning other than an arbitrary one; I certainly can't see any reason.

On topic: This game looks really fucking rad.

This doesn't really make any sense. SNES game "art style" is pixel art, but even some games had different styles. None of which can be called "SNES". Using the word SNES is more of a buzz word to trick old gamers into linking their old feelings of SNES to your game.

One of the few legitimate games that can claim that is 3D Dot Game Heroes.

This looks more like a Pixar movie.

Deep Tactical Combat - Combat features multiple tactical elements such as directional damage, various ranged attacks, melee, magic, DOT and AOA. The damage model features blunt, piercing and slashing damage types as well as elemental damage, projectile damage and defense. You can perform Backstabs, sneak around and so on. Over 15 equipment slots and dual-wielding feature offer interesting choices of gear combinations.

That sounds like pretty basic combat to me. Watching the video also makes it look very standard. Doesn't mean it's bad or unfun, but again using a buzz word "deep combat".

For example one of the features we would love to add is Morgiana

If you really wanted to add her, you would. Instead of holding her hostage until you get more money. It's so lame to see people limit their games like that. One of the negative impacts kickstarter is having. Seeing that kind of thing instantly sours the devs and the game, imo.

Does forum access only come from buying the game? That's a new one to me.

The graphics look cool and it's a decent concept. Some of the animations look a little stiff, like Red Robin running through the forest in the video and some of the attacks. But the monster animations look great. Looks like you made a lot of money, grats.

I legitemately have no sympathy for devs that ask for lump sums in order to add a single character to the game before release. That's like DLC turned into a sentient bank robbing robot.

Also "inspired by fairy tales" is a hilarious claim sonce little red riding hood is the only fairy tale reference I see. Is there something I'm missing? I'm pretty huge into fairy tales, so I'd probably notice the referencing.

Although I know I won't get an answer, since all you've done is shill to us and ask for money.
