Just curious.
When searching for games to play, I've noticed several games that have been cancelled by the developer and ALSO no download to even play what had been posted.
My question is, are those games being deleted and if not, why??
Aren't they taking up server space??

Now Link, don't go off on me...
Besides, I'm not even sure why you wrote what you did :)

I'm not trying to be mean, just curious, if the creator of the game
cancelled it and did not leave a way to play even the little they created,
why leave it in the search area ?

If there is a reason, please enlighten me :)
Thank you and good nite

I'd rather future me not know of the abomination I made back in '09
I was just being snarky :P It's good to keep records of games from our past. It's the same reason why Libraries and Museums keep old stuff. Just because something is old doesn't mean you delete it.

Although, I remember a while back there was a purge of old games with no updates or downloads. The actual space being taken up on the server for a game with no download is probably not worth the time it would take to find and destroy it.

If you don't like seeing cancelled games or games with no downloads there are filters on the side to remove them from the list.
I, for one, enjoy looking back on old games and remembering the hey day of my RM youth. ;p

I keep my one game page up because I like to fondly remember that I did, at one time, make a decent-looking bathroom, even if I did forget to remove the auto-shadows.

OK, fine, I'm a bad topic maker :(

As for the filters, I sometimes click on "feeling lucky" for all games and I don't think there are filters for that, so there :)
...so don't click feeling lucky~ XP

I think that it's only made up of text and a couple of images so it shouldn't take up much space. The downloads themselves however take up much more.
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

If there's no download, I'm pretty sure they're not taking up any more server space than a few forum topics.

Same! It's fun to come across games that were really popular a few years ago but are now vapourware -- it can actually be pretty inspiring, since it brings up the drive and vigor I had as a young, go-get-em game maker!
Cancelled games may still have working demos that people want to play.

No game other than ones listed in "demo" or "completed" are guaranteed or required to have a dl. However, I do come a cross a lot of completed games that don't have dl's. I can see a case for a game marked complete, but no way to play it, having the "completed" tag removed so it's not thrown into the mix of other completed games.

With that said, I wish there was a report button for the game topic itself, rather than the post, so we can report topics that appear to have some violation or missing component, or appearing in the wrong category.

@Liberty...haha funny, "doctor, it hurts when I bend over" "so don't bend over":)

come on people, I already admitted I made a mistake created this thread :( don't beat me till I bleed :)

Just thought games marked cancelled and without a download of any kind might be located in a section of their own. Several times I saw a game I though I would enjoy playing only after reading the outline to find there was no download and it had been cancelled :(

If you guys don't stop beating up on me I will have to report all of you to Kentona, so there !!

Hey, everyone look at Linkis whine, whine, whine
We're not downing on you, just giving our opinions too. This was actually brought up a few months ago and the general consensus was the same - keeping shrines to the past is a good idea. (You're entitled to your opinion and no-one is sniping at you - believe me, this lot would leave you under no illusions of that if it were the case. xD )

Another reason for this is that there have been times when people leave the 'scene' then come back years later and put up a demo or start working on the project again. It's a bit of a hassle creating a new section for games in and of itself (the site code isn't very friendly from what I gather) without having to do a back-and-forth. XP

It's OK Liberty, I know you all are just voicing your opinions but it's fun
for me to whine and cry hoping to give someone a reason to smile :) guess that's just a part of my humor....

Yes, but it is about games that are cancelled AND have no DL as far as I understand. Also while I agree that game page on its own may not use enough space to warrant removal, screenshots may (if it has particularly large amount of those, 15+).

All the report button does is create a PM with preset data like all the mods in the TO field and a link to the offending post. You can easily edit that to report something else.

@Rave, OMG a believer :)
I think there's been a few games that have been deleted and reviews point to a missing page (error 404).
