So, let's remake RM2K's graphics in HD!
I've already organized 95% of the tiles (except for ship. i won't touch ship. i hate it.) and they're here! Check it out <3
Tileset:
First Version
Current:
Charset:
This is evidently just a work in progress, there are hundreds of sprites to HD, yet... And more worryingly, I can't seem to properly translate 2k's cliffs to vxa T^T
They'd probably do fine on A5, but it's already full, I wanna see if I can do it on A2 or something... Hmmm
...I welcome you to help, critique, etc :O

Why are some of the pixels 2x2 while others are 1x1? Or are those the sprites that still need "HD"ing? Either way, quite a lot of these sprites look nice, though the circular building in the fifth image needs to have its blue lines anti-aliased.
Just so everyone knows, it's illegal to use these in RMXP/VX/Ace unless you own a legal license to RM2k, so keep that in mind if you were considering using these in a commercial work.
This site allows the sharing of rips, so I doubt they'll care about the RTP.
In any case, all sites allow the edits to the RTP. Even RMW allows RTP edits (from the legal English supported makers), but using those edits usually requires you also have a license to use the original RTP yourself (such as you need to own VX-Ace in order to use edits made from the Ace RTP).

Sheesh, yeah, things have changed in the past 5 years, or so ):
Nah, anyways, I guess I should think about laws and stuff then )))):
I was so excited to work on this ;_;) sounded so fun, now I'm a bit afraid, since I'm so clueless... ;_;

I may work on these when I have some time! Subscribed. Do you have a template or anything for the charsets?
I don't have a template, I just kind of sculpt over the resized version on another layer until I'm happy with it. But I'm making one since you asked! Already made the frontal view. I think they're a bit charmier than the lackluster rmvxa character template. It tries to act retro but it just acts lifeless ;_; Ugh
I'd be glad if you helped! It certainly would be pretty awesome <3
By the way, I've made a tileset compatible with FPLE VXA as well, so... 3D Dungeon Crawling with 2kRTP now is possible and cool <3
Already converted all the battle animations and stuff... But HDing them animations and the monsters will be pretty tough haha

Is this allowed to be posted? Thought you couldn't share RTP stuff.
1. The RTP packages for all RPG Makers are freely available from tkool.jp.
2. Consequent to the above, simple redistribution of the RTP packages does not in any way harm ASCII or Enterbrain.
3. Nobody will even care, realistically, as long as this isn't used commercially.
4. This is a deriative work from the RTP packages, specifically the RM2K3 RTP, so not all of the RTP's license may apply here (note: I am not a lawyer).
5. RTP-derived works have been shared since the beginnings of the RM community, nothing is going to change this. Ever.

Now, that aside:
Very nice work, I like. The only qualms I have, if I may be permitted to state them, are that:
1. The charasets don't have an "idle/standing" pose, or at least it's not apparent that you've drawn them. I personally don't like RM95's "walk left/right" 2-frame animation.
2. The chipsets/tilesets are from RPG Maker 2003, not RPG Maker 2000 as originally stated in the OP. :P
Ahhh, they're so cute!
The shading is really good, too, but I feel like some of them could use more white pixels. Maybe I'm just obsessed with teh shniez.
But, the boy on the left in today's post... why do the pixels near the top of his eyes shift?
Oh, so this is why I was confused about 2K vs 2K3.
That being said, I kinda feel like a dumbass not realizing the answer to my other question sooner...
