..:: THE GREAT PURGE ::..

It has been brought to my attention that there are a great many games in the RMN database that suck balls. Many got in before we had clear rules on the minimum requires for acceptance, while many more got in before we implemented a BCB - or Bad Content Ban.

(Actually, we've known for a while that the games DB was bloated with crapware, but haven't done anything).

Anywho, I am calling upon the members of this fledgling community to help us weed out the crap.

Post links to games that you feel are not appropriate for the RMN games database

I looked through most of the games here and composed a list of games that from my view should at the very least have the authors contacted so they can add in more details.

My basic guidelines were at least two gameplay screenshots (title screens not included). There's a nice few here which have downloads and are even good, but in those cases there should be an effort to get additional screenshots and game info added by the authors.

As maker of this game I have but one thing to say. Let this one stay for another month and I promise to add something more to it. I am still working hard on this one and a lot has changed.

Lol, what a shame. Too bad there isn't a feature where if nothing is added within a month or a game is cancelled that it wouldn't just automatically delete it. Saves time for the people who HAVE to go through every single game and delete it. Ugh...

I don't want any part of this purge. It looks like it's going to be a rough battle anyways. :P

I'll look through the shit load of pages for shit games.. pages. Also for some of the games with no screens but downloads for them, download the game and take a couple of screens maybe, and submit them with what game they are intended for in the Description.

Eh? Why delete? To be the devil's advocate here, why not just put inactive games in an inactive section of the site? If a game hasn't been posted two in three months, stick it in a separate game that must be re-activated. Deletion is a waste of time and resources. Lots of these games have good resources and ideas that might be inspirations for future designers. If you delete those games, not only will those authors be royally pissed off (probably most of them, though you might inspire some through fear to put up an extra screenshot or something), but being that most RM projects take forever to make because the authors are amateurs AND many games take over 1 year to make because one person is making them and the point of posting a game isn't to immediately give a downloadable product but rather a way to discuss development...

Anyways, I don't want to belabor the point. Suggestion: mark games as inactive so they automatically are not included with the active games.

We're really just getting rid of the games with absolutely NO screen shots or descriptions. Really, if you want to post a project on the site, you should at least wait until you have some content done. And writing a medium sized description and posting 3 screen shots isn't hard.

@Diaskeaus: Games that do not follow the rules set by the RMN staff deserve to be purged. What good is it to list a game no one will play or it's riddled with bugs and the author is *unavailable* to fix them?
