My favourite is very rarely seen in the same view by others. I absoltely love the Trigun series! It's the only gun wielding anime I can get into. The storyline is extremely compelling and with it's additions of the quirky humour and the strange personality of Vash is just wicked. True it's kind of old but it's still the best in my oppinion. From the very start of the series where Vash is presented as a nobody you soon become infactuated with the gripping tale of him being some super enemy who looks and acts perfectly harmless and innocent. ;D

Other than that I enjoy most anime's but I can't get into any of the super huge machine ones.
I am a huge naruto fan as i watch the anime and also read the manga online. I have just read the latest chapter and all i can say is that it is freaking awesome. To think that they put all that suspence in just one chapter is amazing and the conclusion has left the next chapter to be even better.

I'm currently watching One Piece. Currently it is my second most liked series out of all those I have seen. Definitly surpasses Naruto and Bleach and anything of the like. However, I have to watch the subs seeing as how there are no good english versions. What 4Kids done to the anime was horrible. They basically ruined the chances of it becomming as popular as...well...say Naruto. They even wanted to get their hands of that anime as well. Great thing they didn't. It's a good thing, though, that FUNimation is now going to dub One Piece. I will finally be able to stop watching subs!.....once I catch up to where they are picking up from -.-
Gah...adding that stupid expository rap theme song drove me away from One Piece (and by extension, any 4Kids-licensed property) for good. If it means anything to any of you, I'm 26, so I probably ought not be watching anything with the words "for kids" in it in the first place. *shrug*

That said, I'm a fan of screwball comedies, so shows like Azumanga Daioh and Excel Saga are a few on my "must watch" list. I'm waiting to see how well ADV Films handles the English release of Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann...that looks and sounds like it might be a lot of fun. My Japanese is especially terrible, so if there's a decent English dub (or good enough subtitling), I'll gladly add it to my library.

As always, YMMV.
I'm one of those silly people who stray away from dubs, simply because I want to see it how it was originally made. So, most all my anime I get from torrents or whatever.

There's actually a DVD out of my undoubtedly favorite anime of all time that's JUST a sub: Kasimasi ~Garu Mitsu Garu~ (or Kashimashi ~Girl Meets Girl~, whatever floats your boat). I still have yet to check out the offical sub, though, since it does cost money. I recently got twelve episodes of Ichigo Mashimaro as well. Not sure if that's all there is; I'll have to check ANN. I need to see if there's a new subbed version of Tales of Symphonia: The Animation as well. The first episode didn't exactly enthrall me, but then again, neither did the game, and I still beat it.

As for manga... Still reading Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle (got #13 from one of my friends). I need to pick up more of the Kashimashi manga as well. Not sure if there's anything else I'd want to get, though... I might leech Ouran High School Host Club off of one my friends, considering its popularity in our group.
Ouran's just about the best thing ever, so I can definitely recommend that you do so.
I need to start watching Ouran High School Host Club again... I sort of dropped it halfway (though I downloaded all the episodes). I'm not entirely sure which episode I left off at.

I watched Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai 8 this morning.
Satoko is my least favorite of the girls, so I'm a little disappointed to see her subplot being brought up again this arc. Just a little, though. It was interesting to watch the depths to which Keiichi sunk to kill her uncle the last time, and even more interesting to see the return of batshit-insane Shion this time around. I thought that was over and done with this arc, but I hadn't considered other reasons for her going crazy.

It's always pleasant to see the characters remember what they learned from the previous arcs in some shape or form, so seeing Keiichi stand up to what was essentially a personification of his own hatred was neat. Also, Rena is so cute. I would so take that home and... do stuff.

Dammit, though, Rika. Stop getting so depressed all the time. At least she seemed to be better at the end of the episode. I'm very curious to see what Keiichi has planned. Hopefully it's something big and dramatic! My absolute favorite scene in the original series was his showdown with Rena. I get the feeling that probably won't change because it was totally awesome, but I'd like to see something at least a little bit close to that.

I also watched Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei this morning. Which was an... interesting change of pace. I don't think I could recommend this series to anyone, simply because it's so out there. The show is humorous, but there were only a few instances within the five episodes I've watched that had me laughing out loud. I wasn't a huge fan of the first episode, but since I had the next four, I decided to go ahead and watch one more. It's a good thing I did, because the scene at the end of the second episode was hilarious.

Here's the description from ANN:

Itoshiki Nozomu is the world's most negative person. To his way of thinking, there is no hope or meaning in this existence. Even the three kanji of his name become the two-kanji word zetsubou, "despair", when compressed. What an ironic twist of fate, then, that he becomes teacher to a class containing his precise opposite, the invincibly positive-minded Fuura Kafuka.

If you've watched GTO, you're familiar with the basic setup of the plot. Onizuka, a thoroughly unusual teacher, has a class full of problem students, helps them get over their issues individually, they start to warm up to him, and they mature.

Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei is kind of... half like that. The difference is that the teacher, Itoshiki Nozomu, is suicidal and despairs over everything, from corporate power to courtroom sketches to the harsh internet. Most of his students (the nameless ones) seem perfectly normal. But the unusual ones include a hikkikomori (if you haven't watched or heard of Welcome to the NHK!, they isolate themselves at home and avoid all social contact; a real problem in Japan), a stalker, an obsessive-compulsive perfectionist, an illegal immigrant, and a girl with split-personalities (one the ideal Japanese woman, the other a sue-happy American girl). Among others.

Itoshiki wins his students over not through some heart-warming speeches, but by... letting them know that if they ever feel like committing suicide, he'll do it with them. Somehow, some of these girls twist that into love. Did I mention this show is weird yet?

As I mentioned before, this show is humorous. It isn't funny in the same way that, say, Azumanga Daioh, or Yotsuba&!, or Excel Saga are. It contains a large number of references (largely on the periphery of the action, such as a guy wearing a Lucky Star shirt and numerous quotes on chalkboards), but the bulk of the humor comes from the interactions of the cast. When you have a cast with this kind of range, things are never normal. The show is slow early in the first episode, but the pace picks up soon and things start moving a little more quickly (and erratically).

The animation and art direction are particularly impressive. Words fail me here, however. Check it out for yourself! Or not. Why bother? Everything is so full of despair anyway...
Ranma 1/2 (the manga, at least) has very, very good comedic timing, and the characters are pretty likable. It also features freestyle fighting, fighting on ice skates, fighting on a large frying pan, fighting while sitting down on a tea cushion, etc., etc. I haven't seen the anime, so I can't speak for that.

Oh, and Fullmetal Alchemist is awesome--both the anime and the manga. The manga especially, though.
So I've watched Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai 9-11. Good stuff.

I'm starting to think the Keiichi vs Rena showdown will always be my favorite scene from the show.
That aside, things got pretty epic in these past few episodes. It was great seeing everyone band together and even greater seeing them get everyone else to join them in their fight. Putting everything on the line and convincing everyone to fight for a common cause is so moving. ;_;

I'm glad that Takano has at last been unmasked as the villain... to the viewers, at least. I've known this for a long time, since I spoiled myself when this arc's game came out. I didn't know all the details however, so I had suspected that Jiro was also involved. It was really surprising (and interesting) to see how he ultimately met his fate, after so many of his mysterious deaths.

What I'm wondering now, however, is why Rika gets killed. Takano told the Yamainu to watch over her in this episode, but it didn't particularly seem like she intended to kill Rika.
I'm pretty sure everyone is going to end up dying next episode, though. It is called the Massacre Chapter, after all.

The next arc is going to be so awesome. Also, Rena <3<3<3.

I've downloaded Zero no Tsukaima II 6-9, but I haven't gotten around to watching them yet. I'm quite a bit behind since I always wait for the HD releases.
I pretty much hate most anime. I make exceptions for particular things that I find really interesting or well-made but for the most part all anime seems the same to me.

I love the GANTZ comic.
And I love the DRAGONBALL Z series.
And I enjoyed Cowboy Bebop (who didn't).

I thought Fullmetal Alchemist was an ok show- but I only watched it because everyone I knew at the time was into it.

I watched the first eight episodes of Naruto because everybody seems so obsessed with it. It was HORRIBLE and I really don't understand why people like if other than "LOL ANIME FROM JAPAN".
I love the show Inuyasha, obviously. My avatar IS inuyasha. I also like One Piece, a little bit of Naruto, Bleach, and another show, but I can't remember what it was called. Anyway, I hate to think of Dragonball Z anime. It just doesn't have that anime affect on me.

imo that's a good thing.
Aside from the fact that Naruto is an annoying brat for most of the first series, Naruto and Dragon Ball Z really aren't all that different from each other. For that matter, most shonen fighting anime aren't terribly different from Dragon Ball Z.

In DBZ it is GIANT MUSCLE MEN SLAMMING THE SHIT OUT OF EACH OTHER while Naruto is a bunch of preteens throwing ninja stars.

I love DBZ because it's just RAGING TESTOSTERONE and no other anime really has that same effect.

sCRYed does. Only it's also filled to bursting with barely-veiled homoeroticism. Seriously, it was gayer than Gravitation, it just didn't come right out and say so. Also it's awful. But people who liked DBZ would probably love it.
I've never really been interested in Dragon Ball Z. I didn't really mind the original Dragon Ball when that was on. My favourites would have to be One Piece, Naruto and Fullmetal alchemist. The only thing i hated about the english version was how much 4 kids entertainment stuffed it up. I've been watching the japanese version lately on the net and also reading the manga version.

I liked it, though.
Geneon Entertainment (USA) Inc. is cancelling their DVD sales and distribution.

This sucks. I hadn't gotten around to buying any of the Higurashi no Naku Koro ni DVDs yet, but that was the next series I was looking forward to buying after The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya finished. It looks like that's not going to happen, though. I was also looking forward to the Zero no Tsukaima DVDs, but I guess that's out of the question, too.
Hopefully, these series will see a release one way or another.
Since I have no life I just read all of that...^.^

I have to agree with a good portion of that.
I had my DBZ phase. But no more. Oh please no. I mean, they spent the whole episode leading up to a big battle, talking about how powerful they other person is. That's really it... Twenty minutes of people yelling, as they charge up yellow sparklies and yell like it's painful, with their muscles getting progressively bigger as if they are taking steriods, and every once in a while you'll have someone say something coherant like "I cant believe he is so powerful". When really he isnt doing anything to show power, just that he can conceal more fire crackers in his pants and set them all off to make shiney lights. Maybe in the last two seconds someone would punch someone or shoot a Hadouken. Er, I mean energy ball. And then in the next episode they'd spend twenty minutes talking about how colorful that fireball was.

Naruto is like that to me too. Only difference is that they dont conceal explosives in their clothes as sparklies...so they spend twenty minutes talking to themselves about what they're going to do.
First I'm gonna use such and such jitsu like so (describes) then I'm going to walk behind him (describes each individual step) and use this overly complicated technique when I could just poke him with my kunai...

Basically those kinda animes are like... this post. All talk, and no substance. Though I daresay not as funny.

Moving along, I do NOT hate anime, love the hell out of it.
My favorites are currently Death Note, Elfen Lied, and Ghost in the Shell. I mean there are a ton more I like but those are my favorite.

For those that don't know;

Deathnote is, in a nutshell, a college student that finds a notebook dropped from another world that kills whoever's name he writes in it. A pretty nice guy before, he gets a god complex and thinks he ought to kill all the criminals in the world cause no one else will do it. The seiries mostly revolves around him trying to cleanse the world of criminals, and dodge the incredible mind of the guy that is trying to catch him. It's really the most intellectual anime I've seen ever, call me pathetic but it really makes you stop and think "how the hell does he anticipate this?" and you feel like a complete genius when you figure something out.

Elfen Lied is about a girl with a mutation that escapes from a facility in which she was being tortured and tested on. Her mutation gives her the use of Vectors, which are like, invisable hands she uses to kill humans. You would think that, being a bit of a cold, heartless killer you'd despise her, but this anime has some REALLY powerful stuff in it, by the end you wont blame her for doing it, cause it makes sense where she got the frame of mind from, you'll wind up feeling sorry for her and probably would do the same thing yourself. I'm not going to spoil anything but there's one point not five episodes in that makes most people I know sick to their stomach and/or cringe on their sofa from watching. It's just sick and simultaneously powerful stuff. However, the first 3 or 4 episodes of it are really...um... not cool. See there is a bit occasional burst lot of nudity in the first few episodes. Not pornographic, but your obligatory "there are female characters so lets make them take a bath" kind of things. Its kind of embarrasing to watch but after just so long in the series there isnt really any more of it and you're left with nothing but awesome anime. Minus the opening/closing cutscene. The nudity is really my only complaint.

I dont think I need to explain Ghost in the Shell, but what the hell... it's a semi futuristic world where technology has advanced to the point where cybernetic/prosthetic implants or whole bodies are common usage, and it follows the exploits of Motoko and her unit, Section Nine, as they deal with the rising amount of cyber crime, cause people are wont to take advantage of that kind of thing. I like the first season a lot, mostly the Laughing Man stuff, cause I guess I'm really into the intellectual kinda animes that make you think. I think they kind of fell off a bit after that, but I havent been compelled to watch 2nd Gig much after I wasnt impressed. A good anime, IMO, though.

Other ones I've seen and would reccomend are Hellsing (pretty bloody, but a good anime) , Devil May Cry (Though it can be really cheesy in dialogue, the action sequences are pretty cool and I liked the game so Im kinda biased.)and maybe a bit of Bleach. You know, I watched Inuyasha for a long time but it just started to get boring for a lot of the same reasons Naruto did. I still like it, it just isnt as exciting as some of the things I have seen since.

One anime that is NOT good, to the point of being good, is called School Ghost Stories, or some variation of that, Gakkou no Kaidan in Japanese.
Unlike the other ones, which I reccomend watching Japanese subbed just cause... I do... this one I HIGHLY reccomend you get it English dubbed.
Why?
Cause it's only funny that way. The Japanese ones arent funny at all. Its just the humor I guess...but its more family friendly in Japanese. In English, there are plenty of really funny comments about random American celebrities, prostitutes, and so on. They talk really fast, though.
It's really cheesy, but it's funny if you look past that. The characters in it remind me a lot of the people I go to school with, too, and the whole thing has a feeling very similar to my game, the LMS Horror. And before you cry heresy, since it was inspired by real events, the concept for my game came first, thank-you-very-much.

Anyway, that was one hell of a rant. Sorry for the wall of text. x.x
Just watched Ghost in the shell last night. What a show is all i can say. Every episode leaves me in suspence and i get pissed off cause i've got to wait another week for the next episode. If anyone has any sites where i can download them from can you please tell me.
Ah, well there are a few places, *doesnt leave URL's just cause that sounds like advertising shady things on a public forum* just for the love of god don't use Youtube...the resolution is horrible.

The other day I watched a couple episodes of Xenosaga. It actually didnt suck, as I'd imagine most game>anime conversions would. But then I've never played the game either so I dunno how faithful it is. But Kos-Mos kicks butt, 'nuff said. ^.^;;
