Hmm, I'm not sure. I played all the SaGa games basically just knowing:
a) The characters get better at what they use.
b) If it gets too hard, it's time to buy better equip.
Sure, but that takes a bigger time investment (and sometimes grind) than it would compared to just knowing how the game works. Someone who knows a good bit about the in and outs of Minstrel Song can beat the game in half the time and ease compared to someone who brute forces their way through the game.
Either way is 'legit', but as with most things, there is satisfaction to be gained in knowing what you're doing.

I can't really agree with that. It's more enjoyable for me to play something I find mysterious. Knowing the hidden mechanisms in a game often ruins it for me.
And I'd argue that it's more enjoyable for me to play something (or any life activity really, see; sports, your job, sex, a hobby, WHATEVER) developing and applying the skill to do so as I go along rather than luckily fumbling through it.
Either way, it's a testament to Kawazu's talent that he can make games that accomidate to both of our tastes.

People talk about FF 2
I talked about it with my friends the other day told them it's the worst FF game ever made lol
But I still like it cause its an Final Fantasy
Plus, it introduce so many staples to the series such as chocobos, cid, and a bunch of different character archetypes that would resurface in later games.
It brought us the Dragoon [DRAGOON !
Look at the intensity in this man's face
Firion is badass unfortunately Dissidia messed up his character made him obsessed with roses that's just stupid. Firion didn't care about roses that was just the name of the damn rebel group.
I wont bother listing reasons why the game aint that great others have already done that for me.

FF II I love it and hate it.
To be honest, I actually like FF2. It's not the best Final Fantasy game ever made compared to FF7, but it's alright. I'm surprised that people didn't like this game! Though, the game can get "difficult" when it comes to the Dawn of Souls story (after you beat the game) can get hard as heck when you're fighting Ultima Weapon and fighting enemies in Pandemonium. Nonetheless, it's one of my favorite games from the FF franchise.
I played through this in my old phone (square released a java version sometime in 2012), and I really liked it. Though yes, it is flawed. The stat-gain is wonky, and the story wasn't that good, but it's nice enough to be worth one's time.
Oh, and I think the emperor sucks. His castle, though, is nicely made.
