A COUPLE OF QUESTIONS ON HAVING A REVIEW SUBMITTED AND THEN THE USER(S) TAKES DOWN THEIR GAMEPAGE
Posts
Hey going back to the original post, I just noticed something odd, I just had (as in less than 5 minutes ago) my review for Aesperia the Fallen accepted, but it wasn't showing up in the latest reviews section so after checking the reviews page and still not seeing it I went to have a quick look via my submissions and I hit wall climbing paint, however if I hit the edit button rather than the title, I can get to the review. I'm assuming the game page is just hidden at the moment, but it does beg the question as to how I can access it from the back? Since Reincarnation the game that started this thread wasn't deleted just hidden at that stage as Addit couldn't see his.
Yeah, they probably hid it too, just like what happened to me. I tried looking for this game you speak of on RMN and I can’t seem to find it either. Sucks, but at least you got the makerscore for it. Perhaps in the future Kentona will probably be able to do it where you can still read and access your removed reviews, and even see them under your reviews section in your profile, even if the game ended up getting taken down or hidden.
And, on a totally unrelated note, I see that you have finally passed me in makerscore, nhubi. Way to go!

Ah, I see. Thanks for clarifying that then, GRS. Guess I have to work my butt off to get into the 3K MS club. XD
Just write some reviews. I have 10 reviews, so that's like 500 MS. I'm well on my way to 3000, think I'll beat you to it!
I would have been writing them by the bucketload, if my internet cap wasn't so crappy. ;_; Let alone connection. Ah well...
Just find something that doesn’t have a lot of file size to it to review, like some of the older Rm2k / 2k3 games. Most of them are under 30 MB’s.
Besides, with the Summer Review Jam going on, now’s the perfect time to do a few! You’ll earn a few achievements along the way - and maybe even win some free games! Come on, yuna21, you need to take a break from working on your own stuff once and a while and play somebody else’s stuff for a change. You can always laugh at them from afar at their shoddy mapping skills...! :P

Hey thanks, it wasn't a goal, but I'll take the victory lap, nonetheless.

..wait, what aren't reviews about laughing right in their face? What is this afar concept of which you speak?
BTW that would be a joke. I really need someone, anyone, to invent the sarcasm font.
Also I need to stop editing in the wee small hours.
I'll stick to making resources at 30 MS a pop. That way, I'm helping the greater comm and not just one gam dev. Since this site NEEDS moar resources! ^^

...and it's back..yay! Yes I know I quoted myself, so sue me.
that's illegal. you're under arrest.
I'm glad that at least how things are now, taking down a gamepage doesn't actually remove its reviews but hide them as well -- from my experience of how some people handle reviews here, that would be all too easily used as a way of dodging unpleasant publicity.

I think only one person ever did that on this site, but instead of taking the game page down, he edited the page CSS to display five stars (which is against the rules) when he actually had negative reviews. Also, if you've been following this topic, the game page of reincarnation was taken down for other reasons (it seems that Hirei and Nessiah got into a disagreement and split from the project).
Yeah, amazingly enough only one person was so butthurt to go as far as editing the CSS to use a different 5 star image for all review scores, have me edit that out and warn him, then for him to immediately do it again, and have me banne his ass. He later sent me an email asking to take down his page, so I did. (by which I mean I denied it so it is hidden)
But yeah (almost) nothing is ever actually permanently deleted. Like most database designs these days, there is simply an "is_deleted" flag on records in the database, and the code excludes records flagged as deleted when retrieving from the database.
