I am just bad at making logos. I don't seem to have an intuit grasp of graphic design, and can't seem to get a handle on what works and what doesn't. Thus I am turning to you guys to see what you can come up with.

I am making a simple static quick website for my local community association (my wife is a board member there, so that's how I got roped into this). I need something that says

Argyle Park Englewood Community Association

it is a smaller residential (mostly single homes, some apartments, a few duplexes, middle class) in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. There are 2 elementary schools, one small stripmall, and the rest is residential. They do NOT have an existing logo (I asked) or anything of the like. They don't have a colour scheme, either.

It is a lot of text (part of the reason why I struggled). Complicating matters is that we might be enveloping a new nearby subdivision named Hawkstone. So I will need to be able edit the logo to incorporate Hawkstone into it easily (if it does get added to our CA). Please keep this in mind!

Here are my attempts (don't look if you want to try to make something cool. I don't want your creative vision sullied by my assballs logos)

I used my technique of GOOGLE IMAGE SEARCH + DAFONT to do this.

Font used: Times Sans Serif
Some color combos I was trying out:

If you creative visionaries happen to have some free time and wish to blow me away with your graphic design skills, I would be much appreciative! I am looking for a logo no bigger than, say, 150x500 pixels, and a good color scheme (3 to 4 colors).

Thank you!
What a retarded name for a association. It's such a hazzle to both read and say.
well, it's the community association for the Argyle Park subdivision and the Englewood subdivision... what should they have called it?
Argy Parky Engly Woody Community Assoshie~ or APE Community Association

...ignore me. I've been awake too long. Sorry.

Try http://cooltext.com/ . It's been a handy tool that I've used for years. If nothing else, It'll give you a good place to start at least.

How about this: a circle with the APECA across the middle, and around the circle is the full name broken in half by the acronym?
Edit: I'll doodle what I mean and post it in a few. I'm just finishing up a 777 flight to Hong Kong, then a much needed coffee break.
Edit:
This will be huge...

Editedit:the first has the house and tree beneath, so you have the graphics. The second is just the tree. I like your ideas and I think in banner form or on a letterhead, you may be better simply spelling out the name.
However as an organization, they deserve something you can toss on a sticker or badge. A circle is very appealing among the shapes in geometry, and acronyms are simple to toss around.
Alternatively, spell out the name across a circle similar to this, and it would still look alright.

Having a signature is too mainstream. I'm not part of your system!

I can make some changes to it if you prefer
This is what I made and went with in the end:

Thanks everyone for your help, ideas and input!
