THE HIGHLANDER'S TOMB (TEAM FORUM RPG)

Posts

After recovering myself from the shock of almost getting killed, I say to Wes:

" *huff* *huff* Thank you, Wes! *huff* That was really close..."
"W-wes..." I say with tears welling in my eyes. "Thanks again,"

Let's listen to more dead people, eh?
"You guys are so slow...falling all the time."

I'll take a look around, but no touching.
"Oh, it's no trouble, you two... it's my job to make sure none of you get hurt, after all! Are you going to listen to that skeleton, Bazyli? Hm! I want to see if I can perhaps hear it too! If I be quiet and listen closely like you did maybe I'll hear it?"
After considering the idea of Wes, I finally said:

"Yeah, what the hell! It's worth another shot!"

I copy and paste the same action of wildwes.

I sit down for a moment to catch my breath. Then I ignite one of my torches and take a closer look around. I want to look specifically for anything that might resemble a possible enemy or a trap.

Walking up to the skeleton, who's a mere two feet from the entrance, Wes and Zuko crouches and listens to... whatever they can pick up on.
Which is nothing.
Let's listen to more dead people, eh?
Bazyli takes a try, listening in carefully...
"darknes.... yo... frie..." is the faint chanting of the dead, or so you assume. Slightly creeped out, you begin to shake a little, which catches the attention of Wes.
"Feeling alright, Bazyli?"
I'll take a look around, but no touching. 3!
You scope out the hallway, and notice that the floor tiles are slightly protruding.
That's about it.
Then I ignite one of my torches and take a closer look around. I want to look specifically for anything that might resemble a possible enemy or a trap. 3!
Taking out a torch, you soon realize you have nothing to light it with strike it against the wall and it ignites, creating a very bright light, which adds a +1 roll to all perception actions for your party! (Razuna doesn't get this bonus as you lit it after he looked around) 3 + 1= 4!
Looking around carefully, you dare not take a step more as the floor tiles are protruding slightly. Scanning the rest of the room you notice there's a perfect square hole in the ceiling! As well as one of the alcoves out of the many, about 12 feet away, has no torch at all while it's opposite does.

I notify the others of what I've discovered. "Guys, did you see the floor tiles are slightly protruding? Also, look at that hole in the ceiling. Oh, and over there, an alcove with no torch in it. What do you think we have to do here?"

P.S.: The limits of my knowledge of English are beginning to show, I'm afraid. Can anyone explain to me what "protruding" is? I looked it up but I'm still not sure I understand what it means in this situation. Is the floor slowly moving upwards or something?

P.P.S.: seiromem, I believe you forgot to remove 5 MREppers from my inventory. We ate some back in the previous room, remember? Also, what the heck does that name even stand for?

Sticking out noticeably, like how a tree's roots on the side of a cliff protrude.
Perhaps I'm using it wrong, that's always a possibility.

MRE= Meals Ready to Eat. ppers is some nonsense thing I put after it so it's not exactly a MRE, even though it is.
After Kairy's remark, I tell her:

"Protruding tiles? They may be switches, but the question is if they're for a door, or for a trap? Perhaps we should look for a heavy item to put on one of the tiles and find it out..."
"Oooh..." my head throbs. Apparently this listening to the dead stuff is serious business. Seriously painful anyway.

I look up to Wes "This dead dude doesn't seem to think light is a good idea. Whether that's part of a puzzle or just a general warning against light here is beyond me. It doesn't look like you guys can listen to the dead folks like I can... That's weird. Actually that's really scary." I'm glad to be useful but my confusion shows on my face.
"Light isn't a good idea... hm? As in the "opposite of darkness" sort of light? Hm. Well, I'm no fan of the dark, but if light isn't good here, than perhaps it needs to be dark for some reason? Or maybe light will attract some foul beasts or ghouls?

Hm? Oh, you shouldn't be scared, Bazyli. Being able to speak with the dead at a whim like this is a miraculous ability! But... I suppose I can understand being afraid. Being able to listen to the dead, when we can't..."

I pat Bazyli lightly on the head.

"To be honest, I don't know why only you have such an ability, and I'm not quite sure how to comfort you. But, perhaps you will find out why you have this ability while we explore the tomb?

In the meantime... hang in there, okay? You still have us with you! We may not share your ability to speak with the dead like this, but we DO share the ability to speak with each other, don't we? You can talk to us about anything troubling you, alright?"

(I'm sorry, but I'm not really sure what to say... ;_;
I'd probably be confused and scared if I was the only person among us who could somehow listen to the dead, too.)
"Thanks, Wes. Maybe we will!" Wes' pep talks are pretty effective. Being a paladin must help.

As for any puzzle that may be here I have NO idea. I'm not sure testing out the floor is the best idea but I'm for it.
I guess I count as not having done anything... I'll help Zuko with the floor if he needs it.

So, which heavy item will you use?
Well, could Kairy's Hatchet be heavy enough? Though she may not want us to it.
Or... perhaps we could risk using me as the heavy object...?
Oh, maybe we could use the wood we gathered earlier? Yes, I think that'd be best.

Great idea, Gourdy! Let's do that!
Also, I'm pretty sure we have to get over to that part of the room with no torch. It's darkness over there after all.
