LIKES
Posts
It may already have been mentioned...if so sorry.
I was on Face Book and as usual using the LIKE option.
Could we have the same thing? When someone makes a comment we like we could click it. Of course as always we can type a response beloe like we always do. But if someone just wants to like a comment, all that is needed is a click.
A lot of times you will find line after line of comments saying one worded replies and a simple like would suffice.
Not only does it save space but at a single glance, a game developer or just a poster has an idea as to how his comment was taken by the community in general.
Thanks

RMN is not Facebook, and I'm grateful for that. "Likes" add nothing to discussions except for a superficial incentive to say expectedly popular things. I even think it's better that people actually have to post a reply in order to express their opinion instead of just potentially reducing it to clicking a button.

I like that RMN doesn't have this feature.

Please let good things be. If you want to tell people you like something, actually say it. Much more personal, much more worthwhile.
I've actually liked this idea since there are so many posts that occur that I want to give an acknowledgement to without actually shitting up the thread they're on. A thumbs up, something.
Maybe we could do something with MS - not have an actual physical 'x people liked this post' but allow for a button that would take one of your MS and give it to that person? IDK. I don't even mind how RMW does it.

I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

I just have this opinion that we should be doing more with MS than just having it sit there, looking pretty. The idea I put forth is really very unlikely to occur since it'd mean a whole overwork of how MS is updated and counted, so yeah, but frankly a like feature might be nice providing it was handled well.
Maybe more for topics instead of posts in general? Then again, even in shitty topics you can get some gems of posts. They don't have to have an indication of the post being liked - or maybe it could just be something subtle like a blue version of the orange outline of a post if x number of kudos are given.
Hell, even if it isn't a like system, something to show appreciation for good posts would be nice without derailing topics.

You know how easily this will be used as a like-system. And you should be fully aware of how many confuse something "good" with something they "like" (even unintentionally so).
I don't mind the idea, but I can't see it working how you imagine it to be. I also thought Makerscore is more of a badge than anything else, like postcount or rank in other boards. I don't mind it not having a major function.

Frankly, I don't see an issue with that. At all. Just tie their likes to their account. Hell, faves. Fave posts. Okay, yeah, forget likes, I'd like to request Favourite Posts.
It doesn't have to show up in the actual post in any way, but having a Fave Post area in your own profile, so that you can refer back to them at any time, would be beast. I'll even forgo the requested Self-Post Search for this feature.

Okay, now that I can agree with. That's a really cool thing to do.
But boosting posts in the thread itself, or on the site for that matter will usually go to fun stuff ( // not the most useful ones) and boost those with more exposure.

but really, this is a place for hobbyist game devs to have fun making games and showing them off. if making custom resources is fun to you then more power to you! if not we don't really care. Have fun making games and let others have fun making theirs.
Yes, because God forbid fun and funny and interesting and neat things got props in any way, shape or form on a site that's about games... which are supposed to be DUN DUN DUN: FUN. :/
That argument is just silly dude/tte.
True. But many topics are for helping and discussing things. So I'd rather have the useful stuff on top and not the joke inbetween is what I meant.
There's enough fun to be had literally anyhwere here, and that's one of the many great things about this side. No need to search, you'll find your fun anyways.
.. Is it really that bad to want more than just fun? :S

You can subscribe to topics...that's sorta like favorite topics. Of course, you'll get notices when users post in the topics you've subscribed to...

I would actually be willing to spend makerscore to publically stamp a post as DISLIKED.
I mean, there are times I sorta dislike someone's post, and then there are times I want them to know I despise it so strongly that I'm willing to spend makerscore just to make my point.
I would even spend cash dollars to buy premium Golden Makerscore or something just to do this.
I might be a mean person.
