If you want to tell people you like something, actually say it. Much more personal, much more worthwhile.
I've thought one word posts are against the rules (or quote+one word)? Because that how it'd turned out. Ex:
author=RoyLiked.
It may already have been mentioned...if so sorry.
I was on Face Book and as usual using the LIKE option.
Could we have the same thing? When someone makes a comment we like we could click it. Of course as always we can type a response beloe like we always do. But if someone just wants to like a comment, all that is needed is a click

Anyway, I support this idea. Would lead to less useless posts like two examples above.
I didn't know there was a rule in regard to post length, if you can get your point across in a single word surely that is as valid as a 50 word response.
The issue is that it derails and comes off as spammy if everyone is doing it all the time. Like, just imagine a funny post in an interesting topic and then the next seven posts are all renditions of 'like' or 'awesome' and 'nice'.
Ah, well that seems a reasonable restriction then. Probably a little difficult to police however I would imagine.
Policing it wouldn't be as much of a problem if we'd got such like system in place and people would still have a way to express that they agree with or like something if they don't want to/have time to go into details. Everyone's happy this way.
Libby, what is your avatar from? I'm frankly intrigued and would like to see that series/whatever it is based on as I like such art style.

Oh, Kyrsty had a colour scheme art challenge and I asked for Katt from Breath of Fire II. She did an awesome job, considering that most fanart of the character tends to be either cutesy or silly (her characterisation is that of dumb but strong, but not many people draw her as strong and badass). She's one of my favourite video game characters.
I honestly wouldn't mind a like system. I wouldn't push for it, but sites I've noticed that have it, they're so non intrusive and you don't even notice it until your post is liked. In short, "who gives a shit??????"
Like I said, I wouldn't really rally for it, but it wouldn't degrade the site or whatever. It's just a thing.

One of the great things about this forum is the uncluttered design. No signatures and other pointless icons on a post. Except that stupid M thing. In fact, I'm starting to feel a little claustrophobic with an extra button next to Quote and Report o.o;
Likes are incredibly shallow and that seems to be the direction of the internet. Let's not go down that same road.

Do not attempt to take my Save button from me. I will fight you, bro. >:|
Besides, you only see, what, four buttons? Mods have two extra and it's still fine. I didn't even notice the extra button until someone pointed it out. ;p

The only thing that button can't save - is itself.
Ban the Save (link to online petition to have it removed)

Please never start using signatures. They are only ever used for stupid oneliners or as massive halfpage commercials.

3 buttons, save, quote, report for others, edit, save, quote for your own. Don't add a fourth, Link will lose his mind.
The thing I find odd is that I can save other people's posts, not just my own. Not that I'm likely to save any of my own in the first place.
Yes, because it's more of a 'favourite posts' feature. That way if you see a post with a lot of information you like or want to check out later, you can save it and viola, check it out later!
Think of the possibilities! A fast-moving thread that you're wanting to read but have to go somewhere? By the time you get back there's another 10 pages and you've lost your spot! Not with the handy save feature~
Find a post that is really neat and has a lot of cool information you might want to browse through later? Handy save feature!
Write a cool post with information, but think it might be neat to keep a hold of it in case you want to reference that information at a later date? Handy save feature!
