Hey everyone, I've got RPG Maker VX Ace through Steam and am slowly working on learning the software to release my own game. Thought this site would help me on the way!
That certainly sounds to me like a good a reason as any to join the site!

L. T. Smash: It's a three-pronged attack: subliminal, liminal and superliminal.
Lisa: Superliminal?
L. T. Smash: I'll show you. (leans out of window) Hey, you! Join the Navy!
Carl: Uh, yeah, all right.
Lenny: I'm in.
L.T. Smash: Now that you know, Lisa, I'm afraid I can't let you leave. (sees Lisa outside, walking away) Oh.
Welcome!

Haha! Yeah, I remember that scene! So funny...
Anyways, welcome Subliminal to RMN! Good Luck! You'll need it...
Thanks for the welcome everyone.
kentona, would I embarrass myself asking what (game?) that's from?
I've not a lot of experience playing RPG games, mainly just Pokemon and Zelda on the GBA and DS.
One thing I've been contemplating over the last couple of days is how I'd work on my game. My two options are:
1) Develop a game slowly, learning the software along the way.
2) Release an episodic adventure, giving a little more time to learn the software "as I go", rather than diving in head first.
I favour the second and have been researching the bridge between two RPGVXA games - I've found plenty of discussion about the possibility of bringing data from the end of one game over to another but no tutorial/script enabling you to do so.
So, I guess my first question is:
I want to make an episodic adventure, but cannot find how to bring data from the end of one game across to the beginning of another. How do I do this?
Thanks! =)
Edit: I just saw "You'll need it" in smallprint..... I knew I should have made a bugout bag when I was told to...

Ah right, I wouldn't consider myself a fan of The Simpsons - South Park is where it's at for me ^^
I've found this tutorial ( http://rpgmaker.net/tutorials/644/ ) and it isn't written for VX Ace, but the comments suggest it would work if applied to VX Ace - can anybody confirm this?
Edit: Updated link

That's weird. When I hit your link, I get a "Page Not Found" error, but...
Oh, I get it. It's putting the end parenthesis into the URL information, and that's why it's giving me that page.
Anyway, while I can't 100% confirm that it would work with VX Ace, I don't see why it wouldn't. I'm not seeing any event commands in that tutorial that 2K3 uses that VX Ace doesn't have.

Thanks for the info, I'll give it a shot but for now I think it's worth focusing on learning the software before trying to implement two into one. The episodes won't be very long and to start with they won't even need to have that bridge so I can give it a go once the game becomes more sophisticated.
I feared the day would come when my trove of Simpsons quotes would prove to be irrelevant and not understood...
D'oh!
I didn't do it.
T. McClure: Can I play the piano?
Dr. Zaius: I don't see why not.
T. McClure: I couldn't before!
Spider-pig, Spider-pig, does whatever a spider-pig does. Can he swing from a thread? No he can't; he's a pig. Look out! Here comes the Spider-pig.
Shop owner: The law requires a five day background check.
Homer: Five days? I'm mad now. I'd kill you if I had my gun.
Shop owner: Yeah, well, you don't.
(The Simpsons rock.)

I like this plan. Especially the part where you fool around with the software before trying to implement anything "important".
author=SubliminalI havent watched Zombie Simpsons in 10+ years. I watched when it was the greatest show on TV 1989 thru about 1999.
ha... So what was your take on the "important" character a.k.athey killed off?Krusty's Dad
Yeah, I agree the earlier episodes are by far the best. Every show has it's time, and it might be that it's reaching or has reached that point - best to end a show before running it into the ground in my opinion.
I always thought they jumped the shark with the "Who Shot Mr. Burns" episode. Maggie? Srsly? I still watch it if the TV happens to be on, which is rare.

This is the main reason I remember that episode:
Am I the only guy who would watch the fuck out of Speedway Squad?
