[RM2K3] HOW WOULD I CREATE AN "UNDEAD" CONDITION.

I'm trying to improve Risen and make enemies more varied and I thought an undead status would go good with this game.

I'm referring to the mechanic in which an zombifies one of your PCs. For those who don't know what this is:

PC continues to function normally, except:
1. Cannot change equipping.
2. Does not earn experience.
3. Restorative magic either does not work or harms the player or player is simply invincible (in which case, HP is automatically stuck at 0).
4. If all PCs are undead, game over.
5. Condition does not abate and does not end after combat. Persists until healed.

Conversely, how would I make a restorative item or skill that reverses this effect?

Most of you will know this condition from the Final Fantasy games.

I'm not sure it's possible to do a zombie status in rm2k3; I remember playing with the idea for Tundra and had to give up because I couldn't find a good way to implement it.
It seems mad that this would be impossible to implement, given RPGMaker's flexibility and how important a running theme the 'undead state' is in jrpgs.

How dissimilar are 2003 and VX Ace? I'd like to investigate this, but if the differences are too big then I probably can't be of any help.
Hmmm. About reverse healing, you could make an element called "healing", and have the zombifying skills lower the resistance to that. (or heighten, or whatever) so they would "absorb" healing-elemental skills. Since healing is already positive, it'd become damage. But that wouldn't be linked to states... So it'd be wayyy harder to control. And it'd not persist. For not changing equipment, you have the "Equipment Cannot Be Changed" tag on the states tab. Can't talk about experience either, unless you reward the players manually, in which case you can do a condition check for zombie.

I'm pretty sure DynRPG would allow this, however.
Does 2003 have the Sp-Parameter tab where you can alter the Experience Rate?
no, that kind of thing is exclusive to vxa
Other RMs don't work with Traits and Features.

Darn. Sorry I can't help.
It's fine :D
2k3 is another beast entirely, a lot has changed from back then
Or rather, VXA is its own thing. It's so awesomeeeee!!!

I honestly don't get why people who aren't using DubROVnik still use the older makers.

Well, at least I've generated some speculation. I'm using VX Ace now, but 2K3 hasn't lost any of it's charm for me. I actually prefer its graphic style over Ace. Oh well, probably not going to move Risen over to Ace, but Ace's functions will probably come in handy for interesting game mechanics in other projects.

I'd probably have do something with C++ using Dyn_RPG, but I haven't figured out how to apply C++ to RM functions.

Yeah, I was going to point out DynRPG if someone else already didn't, since it seems the only thing to have some effect on 2k3, and probably the best bet to implement a zombie status in 2k3.

Believe it or not DubROVnik was my phone autocorrecting DynRPG.
