CRYSTAL DEFENDER MOBA

Sorry if I got you happy but no, it's not a release. However, what'd you think of a Crystal Defenders moba? I mean, it's pretty much already set-up! You have the many different jobs, The Crystal (nexus) to defend, summons could be a really cool game mechanic... To me, it sounds dreadfully cool! Especially if it were 3D backgrounds with 2D characters, akin to Revenant Wings. Do you have any hopes of Squenix ever realizing the potential to this? :D

I'd totally play a mid Red Mage. 8D

edit: I had to make a typo at the TITLE. gosh.

I skipped on this game because tower defense is maybe my third least enjoyed genre.

Followed by romance Sims/VAs, and sport games.
Well... Just picture a MOBA with Final Fantasy Tactics Advance character classes and aesthetics and you're set! :D

EDIT: I can even think of some classes.

Soldier:
Q - Rend Power (projectile damage in a line that reduces damage output by 25% for 3 seconds)
W - Wide Slash (area attack that slows enemies)
E - First Aid (recovers a very minor ammount of HP. Cooldown resets if you don't attack for 3 seconds.)
R - Crippling Impact - A powerful targeted ability that reduces damage output and alows.

Illusionist:
Q - Chill - Very low damage, large area of effect toggle skill. Slows enemies inside.
W - Expend - Passive: Regains MP when walking. The more you walk, the more you recover. Active: Removes half of mana to place a barrier worth a fourth of that on ally. Doesn't work on self.
E - Ring of Flames : Medium damage toggle ability. Continuously damages enemies in a very large ring around self. Doesn't target enemies that are too close and burns a lot of mana.
R - Thunderstorm - After charging, deals minor damage to all enemy units on the battlefield. High mana cost, low cooldown.

Think of all the possibilities!
The Elementalist would have very cool mechanics, too. What of a Blue Mage? That'd be the perfect Jungler!

What is MOBA?
I'll take the moogle one with the animal calling.
MOBA, Multiplayer Online Battle Arena, games like League of Legends and Defense of The Ancients! They're all the rage now and Squenix should grab the chance to capitalize and create a good product, or maybe even a brand.

Oh...bangaa gladiator then.
A lot of younger people don't know this, but when introducing a new acronym, it's best practice to use the name in full once, then switch to the acronym. This way, everybody can play. ;)
I think we have enough MOBAs. I mean I think we've even seen fairly established companies give up on their mobas. (EA had some in development that was a year in beta and )

Making a MOBA seems about as dumb as making a wow-clone. Of course I've seen games implement "Moba-elements" and genremashing and that seems to be the next step. But just making another DOTA/LOL-clone isn't anything anyone wants to see.

Of course I've never actually played a moba because all I know about them is that the people playing them are full of hate. (that's not true. I've played and enjoyed Awesomenauts, because it's a platforming action game with moba-elements, the other part is true though. That mobas are full of anger and hate)
MOBAs are where ultracompetitive shitturds spend most of their time, ruining it for the rest of us. Could be a fun game if there was a casual aspect.

@Shinan & kentona: I don't really think that's true, to be honest. There's just as many fuckfaces as any other online gaming community- it's not a problem specific to MOBAs. I'd be one to argue that you don't notice tryhards as much because the gameplay is a lot easier to pick up. To each their own, though.

I agree with the sentiment that another bare bones MOBA isn't a profitable idea though. Even Blizzard couldn't compete with League of Legends and Dota 2.
In the 2 years of SWTOR I've played, I've encountered maybe 3 tryhards. In my limited experience in LOL vs bots only, I've encountered on average one per game. I was about ready to try real 5v5 battles in LOL but I gave it up because I wasn't ready to deal with those types in the greater number I assumed there would be in real fights.

That's what sucks about LittleBigPlanet sometimes.

Do you still play? I deleted you on PSN cause you hadn't logged in for over a year.

Um, about moba haters, I've never played them but since the entire game is revolved around competitive battles(it is right?) you'll have more hateful people. Compared to other MMO's that are mostly PvE. You still get dicks, yeah, but computer opponents are easier to beat. People are more likely to lose and get pissed off at other ppl. Same with CoD deathmatch, compared to a Gears of War 3 horde mode.

Nice to be deleted.
No, I haven't played it yet. I only recently found out it is on ps3 and ps4. Thought it was a 4 exclusive and I just don't have the cash for that. Hell, I don't have the cash to fix my skyrim-thrice-killed Ps3.
Equally nice to be abandoned! I deleted the users that never play games with me. Nothing personal, bro.
I can't stand this new MOBA genre. I've only tried to play them a few times, but all I encounter are dickheads and it ruins the experience. Oddly enough though, I've noticed that there are A LOT less assholes and twats in my favourite games these days. I think they all left to play League of Extraordinary Gentlemen Legends. Good riddance.

Man there sure is a lot of unreasonable hate for a perfectly legitimate genre of games going on 'round these parts.

I'm not sure why it's so hard to just not pay attention to dickwads in games, or to fuck with them if they start getting in your face. I used to play CSS and COD4 back in the day and holy shit, the problem was way fucking worse. The people I encounter most often in League are guys that don't say anything at all.

A guy whines about you feeding or not building correctly. So what? Half the time they don't know what the christ they're doing either. The fact that stupid people play online games sometimes isn't a reason to dislike an entire genre, especially not a genre as interesting as MOBA.

I mean I feel sort of strongly about this because League is the only new(ish) game that interests me enough to bother playing anymore. It's also the only thing I can still do to "hang out" with my friends back home in Newfoundland.
I think that there are a couple of reasons mobas generate so many dickwads. First it's the fact that mobas tend to have quite few players on a team (5v5?) so each player makes a huge difference. So if there's a newbie or someone who just doesn't give a shit for the moment it has a huge effect on the match itself.

In shooters with loads of guys on a side one person doesn't make much difference. But MOBAs are designed so that if one player is bad the opposing team directly benefits.

(also I guess at this point I should mention again that I actually don't have persoanl experience with mobas. This is just what I've gathered from other people. It might all be completely false)

MOBAs are also not short games. As far as I know a match can take quite a while and it is a game of "slipperly slope" where the powerful get more powerful. So I can just imagine how frustrating it is to play a 30+ minute game where one guy is "not good enough" and lose only because of it.

And after a couple of such matches it is likely one guy maybe feels like they really want to scream profanities in the team chat. Especially if the MOBA is free2play and you get some extra reward for winning a game (I do not know if this is how the most popular ones work or not)

BUT. I bet these games are loads of fun on a team with friends. Opponents saying "fucking hax", "laaaaag" or "cheater" while you and your team mates are sitting on teamspeak or skype is always a huge source of merriment. Personally there I have the problem that the people I tend to game with tend to be three, sometimes four. Rarely do we get up to the number of players for a moba team. And also everyone else in the group also doesn't want to play mobas.

wait...littlebigplanet...srsly? surely you jest

I have no interest in the MOBA genre, I don't like multiplayer gaming much in general (except couch multiplayer which is awesome), but there sure seems to be a lot of hate for people who try hard to be good at videogames and as a result are good at videogames, which is odd. There is absolutely nothing wrong with approaching a videogame with a serious and competitive mindset. I have no problem with that, but poor sportsmanship and trolling is another matter entirely.
