What say you? Me? Lightsaber crossguard... light guard... no thanks.
The teaser definitely gave me hope for the film. Abrams does okay with Star Trek (despite what the hardcore Trekkies say) and I don't doubt that this will be as good.
I was hoping we'd see old fart Luke or grandpa Han, but I suppose we'll have to wait until the first official trailer to see them.

Alright, now that I know this is actually real I'm fucking super hyped. I mean I know the teaser is all flashy "hype" scenes but... It looks really nice. You can tell care went into making it.
Also the lightsaber x longsword is fucking baller, I want one of those things.

"Only a Sith would bring a claymore to a katana fight." -me, after seeing this teaser.
That said, I LOVE the Lightclaymore. However, the astromech head atop a soccer ball was definitely an 'oh no kiddie shit' moment for me.
Also I saw the helmet for the Stormtrooper awhile back, looks damn cool.
Anyway. This is all visuals. I have a spark of hope that I can burn with excitement after watching this movie... But we know zilch about the plot, acting, or direction.
I agree Abrams did well with Star Wars, but I did also think it was a bit of a super sexed up version of Star Trek and can see why the Trekkie's may not like it. The plot itself wasn't that amazing nor amazingly bad either. It was definitely 'big'. That alone makes me hope that Abrams is up to the task of bringing us a big space opera.
It's certainly going to be an opening night event for me and my dad though, no doubt about it.

Went in hoping for ESB Revisited. Left disappointed but not surprised. My hopes for the new Star Wars started and remain very low.
My pants remain unsoiled. The trailer was pretty to look at. It was nice to see the Millennium Falcon back in action. But really, there wasn't anything that made me lose control of my bladder and scream like a little girl.
That being said, as one of those hardcore Trekkies, I will admit that Abrams did do a decent job with the Star Trek movies. And since he is admittedly a Star Wars guy, I suspect Abrams will do Star Wars justice... Or! Or! He could have a Coruscant from the future get destroyed by a mysterious red matter, and have old Han, Luke, and Leia go back into the past to help their younger selves stop Nero from deploying his weapon... ...

It's a trailer for a trailer type trailer. Considering it's so early for such a huge film I'm not surprised.
Yeah, I did Abrams take on Star Trek, especially considering the old track record for Star Trek moves (shit), regardless on what the hardcore Trekkies say, you have to respect someone who can actually do that.
Anyway, I have an open mind.

Trailer doesn't really say anything at all about what the movie is going to be like... So if that was supposed to make me want to see the movie, I can't say it did. I just hope there won't be politics.

Considering "the Empire" is still in full swing apparently, I've got some bad news for you. I'm also sure that soccer (football, futbol) ball robot is going to be the next best thing since Jar Jar Binks. Also, dig that USB drive speeder at :40. Mmm, so good.
Hell, give me the movie and I'll make a better trailer than this.

Totally reasonable preconceptions.
The black stormtrooper was an odd scene for me. I'll admit partly, because he is black and the whole scene felt off.
That's how like stoner movies start off where they had some wild crazy night they don't remember.

Meh...terrible trailer. Definitely nothing in it that makes me want to see the movie. It looks like he made a bunch of Star Wars screensavers and made those into a trailer.
If he's counting the books as canon, I hope he doesn't include the story arc that kills off Mara Jade.

According to Wookiepedia neither the books nor anything from the EU was used for the script.
So the crybaby Star Wars freaks will hate it. Moot point I guess since that fandom is based around hating the series they're supposed to love.

Oh thank goodness. There's so much complicated idiotic bullshit in the books. (Admittedly, there are some awesome characters in the books I would love to see onscreen--the aforementioned Mara Jade, for one.)
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

If Abrams had anything resembling a movie yet, he probably could too.
I think they just finished filming two weeks ago and didn't start adding special effects to any of the scenes until that was done, so these 20 seconds of footage are probably the only 20 seconds of footage that are done so far.
author=PizzaWhen Disney bought the franchise almost the first thing they did was stat officially that all EU stuff before the time of the statement was no longer canon.author=pianotmAccording to Wookiepedia neither the books nor anything from the EU was used for the script.

George Lucas also stated the books are not canon. Only the 6 movies and clone wars show (presumably new Rebels show) are canon. The books have always been flexible fluff.

According to this,
Now, with an exciting future filled with new cinematic installments of Star Wars, all aspects of Star Wars storytelling moving forward will be connected.Mickey Mouse money house is looking to change that.
Edit: just finished reading that. Apparently there's a book preset before Star Wars Rebels coming. So yup, EU will be a thing moving forward, I suppose.
Can I get a trailer where I don't have to pause on every image in order to fully understand what's going on?
I don't mean on a superficial level. Yes, obviously there's a droid and some X-wings and a lightclaymore and the MF. Great.
But, man. Enough with the sudden flashes to black. It's also like Abrams has something to hide. Show us the damn flick.
