WORLD OF WARCRAFT

Yeah. I assume that maybe a third of that is from the US. Getting over $30 million in subscription money every month is NOT a bad deal at all.
As a former WoW player, I fail to see the difference in the upcoming expansion. Oh wow, we get to lvl 10 more lvls IN SNOW (oh and all of your TBC epics will be rendered useless by quest reward greens). New dungeons to explore and raid in......IN SNOW! Hate to sound like an ass, but theres really better and funner games to get into then hack and slash grindcraft.
As to Gadreel's points and Tsukuru's question, it's just another grinding gaem that simply is easier to level in and has more appealing graphix. Same thing, just new appeal. Have to admit, Blizzard sure has crafted a fine money printer.

I think WoW is better designed than what you make it out to be. Sure, it's a grindfest and is all about gear. But there is still fun to be had in the game. The new expansion looks cool to me, because I really liked Arthas in WC3 and want to see the new gameplay mechanics they are putting in. It's not some giant evolutionary leap, but it doesn't need to be.
Prexus, $0.06 an hour USD for the chinese is pretty pricey. Some of the people who live in cities in China live on less than $700 a year. It's even less for country folk, but they probably don't have the internet or waste time playing WoW. You can't expect them to pay $15 a month USD when that would be a sizeable portion of their income.
To Darken, WoW consists of much less grinding than most MMORPGs and Blizzard has played around with various game types. Some people play the game just for the CTF type battlegrounds. It's not all about hardcore raiding. And it does NOT have appealing graphics. It's pretty far behind on the curve in the category these days. It looked decent but not great when it was launched. Its only saving grace in the graphics department is the art style has a certain flare to it.

It's amazing the amount of people from my school that play WoW. I friend just starting playing today and I pointed out all of the WoWheads to him. I counted 27. Even a teacher plays it. He joked about starting a WoW club at school, with class time taken off to raid.
I actually found myself playing the WOW TCG with my roommate last night. Funny thing is, I like the TCG, but have no interest in checking out the actually MMO.
