I'm really, really frustrated with Fallout 3. (Major Spoilers!!!)

You see, I'm at the point (towards the end of the game, I assume) where
either you or Sara Lyons has to suicidally enter the radiation chamber to activate the purifier, and you have to choose who
but what's really bothering me is,
I also have FAWKES as a follower, Fakwes who we determined earlier as a major plot point (to get the fucking GECK) is IMMUNE TO RADIATION. And there is nothing I can do to make Sara Lyons realize that Fawkes, immune to radiation, is standing right the fuck behind her and neither one of us has to die!
.

This is some incredibly poor fucking programming/writing/multipathing/what have you.

Fuck, and afterwards,
when you talk to him about it, he just says that he "wouldn't rob me of my destiny."
WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS SHIT.

AND THEN THAT'S THE END OF THE GAME.

WHAT A TOTALLY FUCKING DISAPPOINTING ENDING.

(The last boss fight was a joke too.)

OH wow ...
I haven't beaten it yet ... and won't open up those spoiler tags until i do so, but really a disappointing ending? Dammit!!
I'm going to try and finish the game now ...
How far am I?
I'm at that children town, ugh trying to take that guy to "Big Town" now ... I've been doing every single side-quest, but yeah how far am I from beating it?

Really? Did you have your difficulty on hard?

No, Normal. I should have put it on hard I guess. Anyway, how far are you in the main quest? If you're trying to gain access to Little Lamplight to find Vault 87, you're like 75% done with the main quest.
Oh well I play on Hard ALL the time because I like the challenge.
Anyhow
The main quest is "Picking Up the Trail" and it says I have to enter Vault 87 now.
I've already been to Little Lamplight ... and I'm guessing taking Sticky to "Big Town" is another side-quest

Really? Did you have your difficulty on hard?

I did and i never found it to be any harder. The difficulty levels felt to be all the same.

The same??
Not when your fighting a Super mutant Behemoth ... Dogmeat is not a tank so he always dies :(

Oh yeah, now that I've beaten the game and started two other characters without seeing him or hearing any hint about him, uh...where WAS dogmeat?

uh...where WAS dogmeat?

Wasn't he at the entrance of Vault 101.

When I first started playing, I never found him there

That's strange. I always found him there.
He is in the scrapyard, south of minefield. By the way, he sucks.

I've been doing side quests the whole time. The main quest isn't very interesting to me, and really the side quests are what makes this wasteland have some sort of life/atmosphere. So far I've only gone to Rivet City.

I HATE Rivet City ...
My favorite place would have to be Underworld, or maybe Megaton

Really? I think Fallout 3 is one of the most atmospheric games I've ever played.
Yeah same here. Rivet City would have to be my favourite.

I would also like to say that with my three characters, one of which I beat the game with, the only (full sized) settlements I visited (I have at least a 100 hour play time, guys, it's not like I ignored the side quests) were Megaton, Rivet City, and the Citadel. I stopped by Paradise Falls only for the main quest and stopped in to Tenpenny Tower only long enough to enslave someone to get into Paradise Falls.

While I saw lots of little towns without much going on in the way of trade/quests (grayditch, arefu, canterbury commons) I beat the game without ever really entering Big Town or even finding or hearing about Underworld. And who knows if there are still OTHER setllements I'm totally unaware of.

And this in spite of the fact that I never fast traveled and I tried to explore the entire map.

I'm just mystified.

Also, Rivet City was my favorite because of the rockingly awesome Blade Runner quest, also because Aircraft Carriers are cool.

I dunno, the game felt very short to me...I know it's vast, but the main quest is extremely short and also tremendously PRESSING, like, who WOULDN'T want to go after/continue the work of their dad? It all seemed very urgent and hard to ignore.

100 hours is not short in my eyes, I have 31 or 41 hours so far and I think It's been pretty long so far

Yes but I mean at least 80 hours of those were sidequests. I could probably complete the game in less than 20. I don't think I can say that about Oblivion, no matter how you slice it.

I guess expecting it to be "at least as long as Oblivion" was probably a miscalculation on my part, though.

I hope they release an expansion!

I've had longer BOSS FIGHTS.

FFX - Nemesis, without sphere grid.
FFXII Yiazmat. Took me about 2 hours to defeat him.

Anyway, i've clocked 95 hours so far.

Now be serious Chaos ...
Nemesis took you 41+ hours without sphere grid? You can't be serious ...
