DQ is fun stuff from what I've played (NES ones and bits and pieces of the DS ones), but as... questionable as Final Fantasy has become, I should say, I still ultimately found that series having more staying power for me. VI and VII helped out a lot, of course, but I have a huge soft spot for V as well; it's hilarious and... well, it introduces Gilgamesh, which should say enough about my feelings towards it. Fucker is gold.
I haven't played DQ VIII yet, but I want to. Seems pretty sexy.

DQ8 is really sweet, the voice-acting they added to the Western versions adds oodles of charm. I haven't actually beaten it but the hours I put in were delightful.
