Personally I don't see the appeal of introductory posts. They take up space that could otherwise be used discussing thing. I've seen a lot of forums flooded with five to six 'Hi my name is ___' threads, and they tended to be really distracting.

BUUUT, we're pretty dead right now. So I would have to say that any activity is welcome at this point.

That's why they tend to have a single thread to stop noobs from posting everywhere saying HIYA. ;D
