THE KELLY CHRONICLES

I think this is the right place for this, so here goes...
This is a comic series I wrote last year about an original character named Kelly and an unoriginal character with an original personality, Link. Before I get started, though, let me explain a little about how this came to be.
Back before I knew how to drive, I had to ride back and forth to work with my dad. Sometimes, I had to wait in his office, and I killed time by drawing pictures. I once drew a whole bunch of random characters on a note, and they came from all over the video game universe. There were Pokemon, people from Bomberman, Mario, Legend of Zelda, a bunch from FF7...just a really bizarre mix. Anyway, I left the note there, and dad's secretary found it.
She thought the pictures were neat, so I started leaving her more notes describing the characters and where they came from/what there deal was. Once I finished all the notes, dad asked me to make an original character for her. So, I made Kelly (named after the secretary).
After that, dad thought it would be cool if I used Kelly in the comic series I've been writing. She didn't really have a place in it, though, so I decided to write a unique story for her instead. I took all the characters from the original note (about 42 in all) and made up a story for Kelly to star in. This is that story.
Now, then...my art is far from the best in the world. I have my own unique style, but it's very...quaint (that's the nice way of putting it). I've been drawing this way for awhile, but the style might bother some people. Anyway, here's the first two episodes. And, yes, I started using a ruler after the first two.
1 - A New Ally
2 - Storming the Fortress
If anybody's interested in seeing more, I'll keep posting them. If not, then I won't bother. This is a fairly long series (62 episodes in all), so I don't want to waste my time if nobody wants to read them.
I hope you enjoy them!

These are actually pretty cute, easy to follow and fun to read despite their roughness.
I wouldn't mind seeing more.

R. Kelly fans will be sorely disappointed. :(
5 - The Only Way
6 - Now Things Get Interesting
Yay, plot and premise groundwork. Behold, at the end of 6, how I was torn between drawing Zelda's feet and not drawing them at all! Looks better w/o imo...
So, what do you guys think? Should I keep this up, or isn't anyone interested?

Sorry 'bout the double-post, but it's the end of the thread anyway, so this is just an announcement.
I know nothing says "NO INTEREST!" like nobody posting anything, but if there was anyone who wanted to see where this was going, I'm starting to post these on deviantART instead. Check it out if you like...

I'll be putting up two every other day, so it'll be a bit before it catches up to where this thread was. But, it'll all be there eventually.

Unfortunately the art forum really hasn't become large enough for one to get a constant onslaught of posts.
It's cool though!

Cool, I like your art style. It's very "quaint" :P
Pretty funny, too.
2 questions though...
1. If I continue to read this, when can I expect to finally see an apearence from R. Kelly?
2. Where does your dad work and what's the possibility of your dad's secretary also being his sexretary? (My dad's secretary couldn't care less if I left a drawing in the office, she'd probably just feed it to her rancor or something.)

1. If you continue to read this, you can never ever expect an appearance from R. Kelly. Chuck Norris is in it, though. Eventually...
2. Chances are zero, because Dad's not interested in her and she already has a boyfriend. He runs his own insurance business, and they're the only two that work there, so it's more of a casual setting. But professionally casual, no funny business! ::)

Haha yea I figured it was like a casual business setting, I really just wanted to make a rancor/jabba the hutt joke about my dad's secretary cuz she's fat and bitchy.
But yeah, it's probably best if R. Kelly doesn't make an apearance. Nobody wants to get piss on their shoes, man. Chuck Norris should be interesting as long as you make him true-to-life badass, which may be difficult to translate to lines on paper, but if executed correctly would be more than enough to entice me into reading the rest of this series when it's released.
Your art style kind of makes me think of Paper Mario for some reason, the Kelly character especially reminds me of Ms. Mouse or w/e from the 1000 Year Door (even though she's a cat). Have you ever thought of using that style for a game? It might be pretty sweet. :)

Well, Chuck's more of a guest appearance. He doesn't actually fight Kelly and Link. Just so you know, I wrote this series last year, so everything's already pretty much set in place.
Funny that it would remind you of Paper Mario, though. While I love those games (all of them were excellent), my style is more influenced by Bomberman than anything else. Notice how they all have balls for hands and feet?
As for a Paper Mario style game, well...I would love to do something like that. A big part of why I love that series is its battle system, but that would be almost impossible to pull off in RM (the old ones, at least). Maybe someday I'll branch out and make something like that, but for now, I'm stickin' with RM2000.

I actually worked on a Paper Mario style fighting system for RM2K3 and it was semi-functional before I realized I had no real use for it. :/
