I can't run XP on my vista so what is the newest version of RPG Maker out right now?

the newest is vx,

but you can run xp on vista.

You should be able to run any of them on Vista as far as I know.

Having said that, I don't have a Vista machine so I can't really help you.

HOW TO RUN RMXP/2K3/2K ON VISTA:

1) Right click the program
2) Go to 'Properties'
3) Go to the compatability tab
4) Check the box that says "Run in Compatability Mode" (XP Service Pack 2)
5) Check the box that says "Run as administrator".
6) Run the program.

I've personally never had problems with any of the maker programs on Vista, but yeah, Narcodis' instructions should help you.

You probably did the wise thing and completely disabled the UAC.
