Maybe I'll whip something up that you can use if you want?
Yes please!
watching for the last two weeks and had to join I just registered and I know its shit but just wanted to share I was going for kind of a steampunk sewer checkpoint :)
Dude, you gotta use a link. ;p
Did you add it to your locker? If so, press the button that looks like a briefcase (next to theS) and pick the image) otherwise you need to use the actual link with the filetype at the end (.png or .bmp).

...Liberty you can't walk on lava without kevlar boots or something, the coolest form of lava turns solid at 700 degrees celcius (1300 degrees fahrenheit). In other words that is the lowest temperature that any type of lava can possibly be. Inside a volcano filled with the stuff, the air would be pretty close to that temperature since the rock would act as insulation. But I mean, who cares, because video game logic. Wear a red tunic from the gorons, problem solved.
Anyway, this week's theme was one that my RMXP game's tileset worked perfectly for, so I decided to have a go. I'm not a fan of whatever's going on at the south end of the map, but it was even worse when it was just the ledge along the water without that extra path going south.

It's still walkin' on lava, though~ Technology/magic makes for wonderful explainers. Now if he'd started out saying 'oh this wood is from the x tree that grows in volcanic environs and can resist surface temps of up to x' that would be one thing. But no explaination was given, so we gotta assume it is normal, everyday wood. And everytime I see wood in volcano without explaination of some kind (treated with a magical anti-flame sap? special magics protecting the wood from being burned? magical wood of fire resist?) then my suspension of disbelief wavers and I am pulled out of the game and thinking about things that have nothing to do with the story, characters or how rad the music is.
Seriously, there's a reason that fictional writers have to be very careful with how they construct their worlds and it's because they need to draw the reader in and have them believe that in that world, such a thing is possible. If the reader starts to think about something else because the writer let something as basic as lava-proof wood bridges in a volcano slip them up, then the belief is gone, and with it part of the enjoyment and immersion.
It's the same with games. You play to escape and enjoy and if something doesn't make sense in the world that is being portrayed, you're left scratching your head and wondering 'what the fuck?' instead of moving on and going with the flow.
In that screenshot, it was the first thing I noticed and it made me stop short and ignore all else. You don't want that - or at least, you don't want that focus on bridges of all things.
That's a pretty neat sewer map. I like it. There could be some edging of some sort around the top part of the tiles (where they touch the water), but otherwise, it looks nice. Ah, though the small thing at the bottom middle (machine?) looks really off - a bit too 'clean' and non-textured to fit in with the rest of the stuff. Actually, same with the door, boxes and green crates. They're a little too clean in comparison. Rust 'em up a bit, give a few dints to the door, maybe, or at least the frame. Otherwise it looks pretty cool. I really like those ground textures btw, and the walls. >.<)b

author=LibertyConsider that what "makes sense" is relative to an individual's knowledge. Believe it or not, there are many abused liberties that are taken with media, but most of the time it flies by people's heads because the general public isn't aware of how a specific aspect of reality works. In most people's eyes, the the wood in a molten crater area makes it easy for that suspension of disbelief, but in the eyes of the few who actually know more about lava than what is is on the surface, the entire screenshot makes absolutely no sense.

Which brings a good point: Our goal as map/level designers isn't to replicate reality, but convince our audience that the situation is real. Game making is an art form, so the bigger focus should be in designing to communicate a subliminal message rather than trying too hard to emulate what we see every day.

Noted, thanks for the advice since this is a custom tileset that I'm still working on. It's made primarily using actual photos for the textures. Certain parts of it are still pixel art because I just haven't had time to retexture them yet. I went ahead and retextured the electrical box near the bottom, hopefully it looks better now.
The other things you mentioned just need the photoshop equivalent of a palette swap to fit in with this map better - less saturation, less contrast, hue shifted to be a little more yellow perhaps. That's the kind of thing I end up doing in almost every dungeon, just to make everything blend nicely. The gray platform, the stairs leading up to it, the toggle switch, and the cardboard box actually do need to be redone though.

Here's mine. I'll probably use RTP for the other themes though.

Probably needs some more moss or something. And cracked walls too.
Edit: Remaining maps

author=forgottenvanguardauthor=LibertyHow do I just link an image and not the game
Right-mouse click on image > Copy Image Link Location > Paste in post > surround by image tags.
you just quoted the answer to your--oh my god have you never internetted before
OK, first go to www.imgur.com and upload your image. You will get an address (also called a URL) for the image. Then paste that address here in image tags.

I guess so.I don't think anyone who has been on the internet for more than 5 minutes would make that mistake.Another possibility is he may be a 5-10 year old.

Luchino, in the volcano map, you accidentally an island. You may also want to review the shadows on the left wall in your shop.
I feel like the back windows in the shop being white is bizarre. Shouldn't the grass be visible through them? Similar with the front windows being black. Also, one of the front windows doesn't even point into a room - it looks into the space inside the wall.
