I guess it's time to talk about the game.

I only played as the tinker.

I realize this was a game where you have to explore to find things, but my god that egg took forever to find!

I will admit I referred to the guide more than I would have liked to, but i also felt it was necessary at least for me.

Holy cow you can jump onto the lilypads? Well that's neat, wish i found that ten minutes ago.

I like the four questers, but they need to learn to move! Always in my way...

Actors? When did this become a play or movie? Because I would totally watch it if it was.

All in all, the gameplay is enjoyable, if the game boards aren't a bit of a grind to get through.

I like some of the characters, although the elder is ridiculously vague at times, and some like the mechanic and his daughter are a little generic.

Why do we need a silent protagonist? Those only work with first person games, and even then I'm not a big fan of when games do that.

The characters definitely are not the strong part of this game, nor the dialogue, and the searching can turn into TOUCH EVERYTHING! Or that progression relies on that.

Game switches between easy and hard quickly in multiple spots.

That's about all I can think of.

I played about an hour as both a Tinker and a Fighter. As a Tinker, I was a bit ambivalent about entering the first board. Considering the tutorial fight, I figured Else's actions wouldn't add all that much to the fight anyway. Though, with that play, I sorta figured that I had to get to each of the non-red points on the game-board to open the way to the chest.

My Fighter playthrough was a bit more interesting, though, I had a better understanding of what I was doing. Still, it was a mash-attack fest until Elsa reached level 3, and the skill she earned caused her to take damage to increase critical rate. Though, when I recognized that she could use that ability outside of combat, and that the status didn't clear when she slept, I sorta abused that.

I totally agree about the four heroes getting in your way. I became so frustrated with them in my Tinker play that I just Ctrl+moved past the buildings to get to the smithy and recharge the bot that way, rather than go around the long way like I was "supposed" to. I also did this for my Fighter play because I was just so used to it, and, to be honest, screw those guys.

Did anybody else raise an eyebrow at the fact that the skill you learn from the book when you're a Tinker cost MP, and the Tinker doesn't even have MP? There's that status condition that you randomly get that makes your MP costs zero for a limited amount of time, but still, I question it. Though, I've also never saw the status that skill inflicts fall off of the bot, so, who knows?

I really don't like how the enemies don't drop gold, or the frequency of item-drops. I dunno, maybe it's just me, but, I barely ever spend any money, if I could help it, because of it's scarcity.

*Edit: I do like the mapping in the game, though. I have a particular weakness towards the screens with elevation, as those can get a bit frustrating/confusing as to how they should look. Also, I kinda like the "Home" song.
Yeah, that skill is a bitch. You have to get the hammer (her weapon) in order to even get access to MP, but it's so far from the introduction that you can't really do much in battle until you get it. I know a lot of times battles really dragged on me due to my inability to do anything and I severely dreaded going anywhere on the boards due to having to fight monsters over and over.

It wouldn't have been quite so bad if you cleared a spot after stepping on it, allowing for you to move freely around the board once you'd killed enemies (or at least be given a chance of it - like after the first kill you get 50% chance of an encounter... hell, even letting you choose to engage or not, so that if you wanted/needed to grind you could.) It was a bit obnoxious. As were the quiz questions. A lot of them were like "What? Was I told this somewhere? How am I supposed to know the answer to this bullshit?!"

In fact, a lot of the game consisted of having to follow the guide. It was impossible to find your way or, in some cases, what to do unless you did so. Like, there was a hidden treasure I missed because there's a very small time window to get it in and I tried to play without the guide up to a point, so lost it. What bullshit! >.<;

A game should not need a guide in order to get everything in the game (why I still rage at certain games like FF9 and FF12 when they pull bullshit stuff you don't know about) - but at least they allow you to know about it when you miss the item so you know to look out for it on a replay. In this game you didn't even know shit existed so how were you supposed to get said shit?

Battle-wise, I was wishing I'd started with a fighter (and if I'd known what being a tinker entailed, I would have picked fighter instead of depending on a robot to do the heavy lifting for me because of my lack of weaponry). After I got the hammer, things picked up a bit but it's ridiculous how long it took to get the damn thing.

Puzzle-wise, I really liked the game. The puzzles were great, not too hard to figure out and all worked well enough. There was an instance where it was broken for me, though - fucking skulls - but I really enjoyed trying to find all the treasure and the on-map interaction was great. Loved it. I'd see stuff and think "Can't wait to get something so I can deal with that and go see what's over there!"

The game had some faults but overall I did like it. And yeah, the mapping was pretty good. Wonder if that inn ever opens?
As far as money went, I scrounged together a bunch of it and never spent it because the merchant didn't have stuff that I wanted aside from potions and that one part where you need honey. other than that you just collect stuff to get equipment.

I like the complexity of the mapping, although it makes the "touch everything" plan harder.

You can get plenty of money from the secret rooms, but to find those without the guide means ramming your face against every wall in hope there is a room behind it.

What's all this about a guide? I don't recall seeing one.
You have to go to the game download page, second page of comments, there is a link to a guide.
I did actually find the first two without the guide. Just walking along and suddenly teleported into a room. Cue me ramming my face on every surface from that time on. XD
So I compiled the review and submitted it. Tomorrow I'll have another list of games for voting.

I wanted to sum up my thoughts several days ago already, but I was too lazy to do so. Still, pretty much everything was said before either be Suna or Liberty or Marrend.
There were things I didn't like from the beginning. Like the story. There is nothing to pursue, not a single interesting characters, there are no dialogues as you don't speak. And It's kinda dull. Having robots is a poor excuse for having more members in your party. But at the beginning you play as it was single character party as Elza is weaker than Justin Bieber in Autumn (I played as a tinker). Fights are all one round too long. They have no reasons to last so long as they are plain boring.
And what ruined my enjoyment from mapping was finding my way to the third board. I had to open the guide to do so. It simplified my further progress in reading of the manual.
I liked the game for a while, but then It lost my respect. I think that part in Dark forest (first and second board) is only playable a completed one. There is not so many hidden objects later and Forest's mapping is outstanding. I liked puzzles I got across too (but as soon as I opened the guide I did solve them with its guidance).

Sorry for being late, I will be better reviewer next time.

The best thing about Lemography is it's comments section. I got killed in the first battle and haven't tried again since.
My tips in this round are:
The Vastness for the premise of roaming.
Fire Department have pretty positive reactions and one game breaking error.
COATS for this

I must say I came across this game by chance. But it has become one of my all time favorite games. Great work, and I look forward to anymore great games.

I'm also willing to give Lemography another shot.

Needless to say, votes are what matters. And I cast the one of mine to
The Vastness.
I'm thinking either Afterlife or COATS.

I've LP'd Lemography and the others just don't appeal to me. Those three look like the best of the group.

Hey guys. I pretty much pulled out of participating in this because of assignments and stuff, but I would probably recommend not doing The Vastness, or if so, only doing so for about a week, because the game takes about 15-20mins to complete, it doesn't have very favourable feedback in the comments, and for some reason this screenshot doesn't really appeal to me.

Afterlife seems a lot more promising, at least visually. I'd probably go with that, even though it's pretty popular-looking.

Help Center looks pretty cool as well.

So I'm gonna go with Afterlife or Help Center, if my vote counts. I hope my assignments/tests die down soon T_T

The OutCast Rebellion, as well as rewall10's other games, are available again? Huh. Wonder how long that will last?

So, yeah, I might be more than a tad curious about The OutCast Rebellion if for no other reason to see how the game actually plays. I mean, I totally expect that game to have a mess ton of spelling/grammar issues because of it's author, and I have vague memories of a Phantasy Star fan-game where the first battle took waaaaay to long for it's own good, but that doesn't stop my current curiosity.

Though, I've been meaning to get around to April Was a Fool and Dragon Reign for, er, a while.
Current vote count:

The OutCast rebellion: 1
Afterlife: 2
Help Center: 1
COATS: 2
The Vastness:
Fire department: 0
Memories: 0

I'll end voting soon enough

Actually, Coats look pretty coasty (like tasty coast).
If we choose Afterlife, I will be harsh on it, I guess. I just don't like games using David's star to symbolize something devilish (and horror wannabes in general).

What about the promised end to voting?
Yeah, uh, but COATS got 3 votes... that makes it the winner, right?
I must be blind for I don't see the third vote
I assumed that the vote made after your post tallying the counts was the third. XD

I'll sit this round out I think.
edit: Because I'll be busy, not because of the game. XD I just realised how that sounded. No, I've got a fair few things on my plate atm so I don't want to be distracted by gamplay. >.<; If we haven't swapped to another game before I finish being busy I'll give it a go but for now, yeah. XP
