LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

I know I'm supposed to be jaded and spiteful, but the Mario 3 mobile thing doesn't sound bad at all. I personally prefer the original pay-once model for consoles, but the free-to-play model obviously resonates with a lot of players. Those players are playing games on phones and tablets, and if you want to reach them, this is how you do it. The concept that the player is paying for your game's main positive emotional feelings (otherwise known as "fun") isn't a way I've heard F2P explained before but it makes a lot of sense.

I've played F2P games before and I can tell when the F2P model is working and when it's not. When it's not working is when the game is equally (or more!) fun to play while avoiding purchases, which often happens in games where you can get everything you could ever want without paying if you're skilled enough or persistent enough. When it works great is when the paid stuff sounds fun, which in Mario 3 would totally be things like letting me keep playing more or giving me a crazy item like a frog suit or a giant shoe - as he says this varies from game to game and you need to figure out what emotions create your game's core fun. However, I am poor, and so I uninstall those games and stick to the badly monetized ones that make me feel good about being a cheapskate.
