Let's face it, there are alot more low quality games, whatever "quality" is,
that causes this much of ruckus.... People make ugly things and fixes it along
the progress and times... to conform to a standard and community is not a one day magic. It took years.

Hey, we don't all need to "conform". This isn't Nazi Germany. I like the idea of "meeting" a standard, not "conforming" to it. Long live weird games!

But ummm if your game is bad, don't be like me with that text color thing. Go ahead and at least show evidence of change. And for heaven's sake, don't go into how it is a "conspiracy" that a relatively unknown game programmer gets rejected. It may be a conspiracy if pianotm, LockeZ, or someone else well known in the forum suddenly gets not one, but all of their submissions taken down, and everyone including me, starts mocking them. Uhhh, yea, delusions of grandeur much?

I remember my first game (The New Earth). I had a similar mentality. Now The New Earth is no more, and anti-climbing paint has been applied to where it used to be. I would hope I learned my lesson. Fun fact

Eventually, you either do the work or people ignore you. There isn't really a cause to ban, but there is plenty of cause for telling you that you're being a twit.

I actually watched that review. Is it possible for a game to look worse after looking at the initial screenshots?

Yes. It is. Mister Shark, you remember my game right? Tell everyone what happens to games where the author is in denial of the game being bad. It gets mocked.

Did you seriously call your game a "Genius Game"? Pffft. Snicker. Mwahahaha!

I'm going to play this game so I can point out all the things wrong with it.

--------------------------------------------

Starting with the absolutely terrible feature creep. I have voice acting, mp3 files for ending and opening, and two games. This game should not be 250+ MB, that's absurd. This is with hundreds of sound and picture files, loads of common events, and pretty much no impulse control concerning what to add. Still my game is not that. Not even unpacked.

Next, we have a completely jarring opening theme. Thanks for that. And it doesn't stop. Full blast tunes that are more annoying than "dramatic."

We are trying the cheater path. Have I mentioned I already hate VXAce? Don't make me hurt you. We have a single building surrounded by roads and grass, and the text is terrible. We play Yugioh. The show characters play Duel Monsters not Yugioh. Yugioh is the name of the show. Last I checked, there are few to no Yugioh tournaments in any area I've ever visited, as it has not nearly the popularity of Magic the Gathering. Why are you limited to five cards? That's not yugioh, that's five card stud. The average yugioh deck has a full 52. Neither do you bet chips. Have you even seen the show? This is not genius programming so far. Yuna looks like a girl with a bad mustache, seriously?

Okay, the "battles". Two characters facing each other in a simple screen. You didn't even bother having pictures of the monster! There is no player control. And the battle is a joke. You have a text based "battle" which you can choose to cheat or not, and the final battle involves dodging boulders for some stupid reason.

Btw. The huge file size? It's pretty much all your "wonderful" music.

Ummm, yea, this game is bad. And you should feel bad.

There is no conspiracy. Your game genuinely sucks, and if the only reason it got rejected was because of big spacious maps, the person reviewing it was being very generous. ...We are all imperfect programmers. It's part of things. But it's important to have a good sense of who you are, and take criticism. It's not good to beat yourself up, but the opposite extreme is almost worse.

It was and still is a genius idea. Anything I make is automatically genius.

And not trying to defend myself here, because I loved that game. But it's a pretty outdated version.

That's called self-projection.
Can someone just give me a CSS file to copy and paste? There's no way I'm spending an hour of my life learning how to do it.
Dude, shut up. Seriously.

No, it's not a "genius" idea. You did not implement it right. Learn how to automate card drawing (even playing windows Solitaire would be a good step), make actual card pictures, and a battle screen that doesn't look created in five minutes. As it is, you have five cards equipped and rather than asking someone how to draw five cards (a picture selection system), you have five cards total and the battle is over. Even a choice of four cards from a random draw, would be better than having five cards effectively for a game.

Okay, look, since you don't seem to understand.

A deck has a minimum of 40 cards. Not 5. Yugioh should have some graphics to card play. And you should be able to choose what you select for the turn. Not having any choices is not really a card game that anyone would care to play.

And why are you showing me a kickstarter project?

Spend an hour of your life. Or learn by looking at other people's code. Other code is not to steal, it's to learn from.

Here, look. You can make a basic battle system by having a random number generator, and five variables. You select by having having a passable draw area, and using the action key. If you can do a basic party switch menu, you can play cards. After that, it's deciding what's in the deck and avoiding duplicate cards. The very basic concept does not need a CSS.
Alright, enough.

@bulma, ignore the troll. You give him power if you don't.

Thread is over and done with.

With how powerful their resources are to have created such a game, I find it sad just how uninventive their characters are. So far I see a serious/tough guy teacher and a generic mad scientist.

I have a better idea, imagine this: The main protagonist(Yuna) enters a national duel competition. While dueling, there's a pointless incident where one fat guy accidentally grabs another fat guy's balls. In the confusion, Yuna slips a card into his deck and replaces it with Dark Hole.

Or an even more ingenious idea: A pizza shop opens at the world duel tournament, with all proceeds going to charity. Yuna steals some of the pizza without paying, cause he was hungry.

Edit @Liberty: Ninja posted, fine. I get it. I'll stop.
Locking because bullshit.
