Right, so some of you might remember I did a series of various prompts way back. I'm gonna do it again. And yes, it's going to get a bit uncomfortable in here.
The general idea of this series of topics is to get you guys (and myself, tbh) writing about uncomfortable subjects. It's to explore ourselves, expand our comfort zones and it's going to be gritty and hard and some of you will want to throw things at me. Fine. Don't care. Do that.
For those of you who do want a challenge, each week I will throw out a few prompts. Pick one. Pick all. Pick none and make your own. Don't care. All that matters is the writing and the prompts are there to help you in case you can't think of anything.
At the end of this series - which will be relatively shorter than the last ones - there might be a badge prize. Maybe. In any case, you'll have explored your horizons.
Now, we're going to be touching on some subjects that might be triggering and nsfw and the whole nine yards. Straight out I will tell you that they will be ugly subjects and the writing that comes from them will probably be pretty fucking ugly too. We're here to explore dark areas of writing - places most people won't go and tell others not to go and there may be drama. As such, there are going to be people who do not want to have their names tied to what they write. In that case, PM me the written piece and I'll post it anonymously.
Honestly, it's going to get dark. Some planned themes include rape, suicide, destruction of self, murder, torture, smut and a whole host of other nasty stuff. You have been warned.
That said, there will also be other lighter themes thrown in to give everyone a break and I may even open the floor to peoples' ideas and voting on themes given enough involvement.
Anyway, this topic is a heads-up on what is to come. The series will start this weekend. If you want to join in, do so. If you don't, don't.
Not everyone's an adult here. Can anyone participate? Would it really be okay to release such content here?
I'm fairly comfortable writing about those themes but I'd be interested in the reading the submissions.
Bi-weekly would probably be best for the busiest people.

There are a lot of adults on the site and they should be allowed to express their artistic muscles as long as things are tagged appropriately.
Besides, I have no issue with 13+ reading or writing such things (site age rule is 13+ only) so if they want to join in they can. I read a lot worse at that age (and was writing yaoi fiction then, too ;;;>.> ) and kids read/write worse stuff now-days. Teens need to express and explore as much as adults do and providing a safe place that they can do so is part of my reason behind this (well, safe for everyone who wants to take part.) Reading/Joining the topic would be their decision and thus, their responsibility in how they react.
Any childish or stupid behaviour will be stomped on with impunity. I don't have the patience to deal with fuckwits in topics that I start which deal with serious themes. Especially when it comes to art and peoples' interpretations.
Topics with nsfw stuff will be tagged as such in the title and have a bolded header in the OP, but when heading into a topic called "Let's Write... Rape (NSFW!)" or the like it's pretty much a given that things there aren't going to be friendly for anyone.
Any complaints about the topics and written stuff with-in will be met with pointing at the title and laughing my ass off and having their comment deleted (if posted in the topic in question). Because, seriously. :/
tl;dr: Yes, Yes

Will be world destruction by a overlord included? I can't imagine anything darker then classic fantasy themes.
I just want to warn you that these dark themes are not lived by most of us (with exception of self destruction, some call it gammak) and so can be approached ruthlessly by someone. But that's not what it really is about, is it? How often was rape taken lightly in films and so? And I luv Rape-revenge genre myself, so you know what you can expect from me. With zillion of grammatical mistakes.
What I'm trying to express is that these lighter themes can end up being written in more serious tone, because people actually lived them through.
Anway It seems as an interesting idea and I would like to participate.
How you write on the theme is up to you. The prompts will be a bit questionable though you don't have to use them and honestly, I can't see how a theme like destruction by evil overlord would be darker than rape and/or torture. It might encompass those things but that's just setting, not theme.
Anyway, if certain written works are extremely dark, I'll ask that a label is added with warnings beforehand, maybe even hide tags in some cases, depending on how explicit things go.
I won't tell you not to write something, no matter how bad it gets. I will tell you to tag, tag, tag and in some cases hide-tag. In these topics you are safe to explore any aspect of the theme you want no matter how tame or wild it may be.

Mo won't be. I've just wanted to point out, how some games work with certain themes which are greater than life and do so without anyone realizing how big it really is. There are often massacres, massive destruction of both nature and civilization. It's kinda strange how these themes are detached from real life and so they don't feel so severe.
However police brutality, injustice, racism, sexism, that is something what can happen to anyone. It's on personal level and so it seems darker to us. If you want to show brutality of some event, you wouldn't say that thousands of thousands died. You would choose one story. It would be probably story of young poor girl, struggling to survive.
It's thought which doesn't belong to this debate, I just had it on my mind and so started it writing, but then I realized I don't want to do so and stopped. It's nature of my thinking sometimes. I'm always changing what I want to say in the middle of sentence or comment, cuz I'm getting new ideas what i want to talk about all the time.

I am all kinds of in on this. I think bi-weekly would be best.
I would try writing. I voted bi-weekly, but I know that no matter how long the deadline was I'd still shit something together last minute... ... But bi-weekly lets me think about it more before committing to the shit.
It is also entirely possible I would write in non-english.

I think bi-weekly would be best, just to not overwhelm people. I'll probably take part in some of these themes every now and then, if I need a place to vent or something. Can't go too hard into it or it will fuck up my mood.
I'm interested in this, for sure! I need more practice writing. But yea, I think bi-weekly would be fine.
Depending on the prompt, it could be really awkward for write for. Which seems to be half the point. Count me in. I guess.
@Liberty: Good. It just struck me odd and... risky? that such content could be allowed here, but with you in charge of the submissions I suppose that anything too offensive or gratuitous will be denied.
No shame. You're not alone ;)
