What the heck is this...

Apparently the game is an elaborate recruiting tool for a new age cult...

Also, prepare for the incoming wave of Kanye Quest 3030 downloads to test this out. I can see it's already in the buzzing section.

it's like the article says, a weird and non-threatening creepypasta-esque dealio. whatever, seems like a nifty easter egg =P

Yeah when I read the article again, I realized that it was probably just a creepypasta thing, but like you said it's actually a pretty funny addition and it's interesting that it hasn't been publicized until now.
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

If I found out that an entire game were in fact devised as a secret recruiting tool for a legitimate cult, I would totally play it.
Weird coincidence this story emerged now.I started working on a game idea last night about cults.

You're magical to me.

Wow, mysterious stuff like that is really cool! (as long as you're not REALLY recruiting for a cult ;P ) I'm just afraid that I'd put something like that in there, do the hard work, but then no one would ever find it XD Well, it's cool that this secret finally got found.
The article implies that the developer probably put up that pastebin, which is likely true.

Oh, right, forgot about that XD

Yeah, if your secret is so secret that only you can make it happen, then you've made it tooooo secret XD

I wonder how many people actually played it before learning of this? I took one glance at Kanye Quest and nope'd out of that page without looking back when I first saw it.

I'm saying that perhaps the pool of players was small enough that there weren't that many people who could see it, let alone did, and that led to the dev putting up the pastebin. Assuming, of course, the dev did.
I'll one-up you and say that I took one look at the name of the game and decided not to play it.
The "based god" reference mentioned in the article pretty much validated every reason I decided not to play that game.

At the very least I'm reminded why I don't read Kotaku anymore

The game had 7000+ downloads before this article.

As an avid hip hop fan, I'd play the heck out of a good hip hop RPG, but it turns out this one was not. For those who are true hip hop fans they may realize that the title evokes Deltron 3030, a fantastic rapper and self-titled landmark LP and not just a random number above 3000. At least I detect the creator knows his hip hop, but a legitimately enjoyable hip hop RPG would be darn electric.

I don't know jack shit about hiphop, and honestly I don't plan on learning, but isn't Kanyes music shit even among hiphop music or rap or whatever he does?

That was the impression I had. I thought Kayne was only famous because of his temper?
Uh, no? Kanye is well known as a talented rapper and a near master at production. People like to rag on his music when he does/says something dumb, which is often, but the criticisms generally hit the wall when someone brings up The College Dropout or My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. I dunno what happened with Yeezus though.
