Best way to skip all the fillers is to read the mangas. ;)

Vision of Escaflowne sounds familiar...

Man I forgot to mention Escaflowne. I remember WAAAAAY back on the Fox Kids network, when they had that on there. I didn't realize how heavily edited it was at the time, nor did I really care considering I was 6 and the guy was sitting in a dragon bone armor mech, that can turn into a flying machine. I actually liked the English theme song too. I remember some kind of holy angels/melodic choir thing going on that was really cool, but the japanese opening was pretty gay.
Yeah Escaflowne has some really good music. The opening credits i don't really like mainly because of the song but the ending credits is good. I am only up to volume 3 of it though as i haven't had much time to watch it. :(

I think both shows have potential, but the fact that it is just so long and ... well, more than some of the episodes are off-topic. How can anyone stand watching it for that long? Another anime that falls into this category is Inuyasha.

I agree. Inuyasha had potential at the start of the show, but it just drags on for so long and never accomplishes anything. That's why I really love shows like Trigun and Fullmetal Alchemist. They accomplish their goals within a reasonable amount of episodes and go out when they're still good. After a show sticks around for a long time, it just gets boring. Dragonball Z, anyone (or even worse: GT)?

I heard Death Note was good, too. Has anyone seen it? I haven't seen any recent anime so I'm a little in the dark on that one. As for Naruto, that show just seems too teen-friendly to me, but I've never tried to get into it so I could be wrong.

As far as movies go, I love Naussica and the Valley of the Wind, along with most of the movies created by that company. Akira was decent (I hear they're making a live action remake of this, along with the Dragonball movie...).

Death Note is worth watching if only to see L, who is one of the best characters to show up in the medium in years. Other than him it's sort of a hit-and-miss series, and the protagonist is an awful jackass, and the major antagonists who aren't L are bigger jackasses.

It's watchable, but I would be hesitant about buying the DVDs unless you can get them cheap.
hmm... some of my favorite anime?
Probably a mix of Dragon Ball Z, samurai Jack(if that counts), one piece and my most favorite is speed graphers.

Favorite Manga?
Im not sure, i read lots of different types its hard to remember. so probably anything. -lqtm-

That is true and the death note dvds can be pretty expensive. I have been buying every volume so far and am currently up to 6. I have been buying the special edition ones that come with a free figurine so all up it's costing me about $50 per volume.

As the discussion roles right along, I wonder, has anyone even heard of/seen the animes I mentioned in my last post? (Except for cowboy bebop/NGE, of course, I mean the obscure ones.)

Right now I am sporadically watching Gunslinger Girl and Berserk.

Anyone ever watched Bakeneko/Mononoke yet?

I saw some of it, I disliked the style though, I'm not sure why.

Yes, i have seen Hellsing and Rurouni Kenshin.(check my avatar) Overall i thought Hellsing was pretty good and i think it was made by the same company that made Trinity Blood. If you like Hellsing you will probably like Vampire Knight.

because it wasn't generic anime ?

Nah, I jest. A lot of people can't see to digest the art style, but I personally saw it as attractive in its own unique way. The way the characters are drawn are ugly, yes, but the subject matter of the story is ugly itself. However, one thing you have to commend it for is the beautiful, beautiful symbolic backgrounds. You don't see that often in most anime.

Has anyone seen Bokura No?
Any thoughts about it? I was thinking of watching that sometime soon maybe. Just wondering what's it like.

Oh and if anyone's interested in what I've seen and what I'd recommend, check my list.
I think you just wanted to start the topic back up. ;)

Finally bought Gundam seed and destiny the other day which cost me a total of $300. It was worth the large price.

Who was that aimed to? At least I'm not really the one who revived this topic. :P
Just asking if anyone has seen that series. It's not very well known so.

I'm still not done through with Samurai Champloo though.
The last 3 episodes of Samurai Champloo have the best samurai fights I've ever watched. Sometimes I just watch those three episodes to see them. I've watched the series 4 times in japanese with subtitles, and once in english.

I was talking to NoblemanNick. :P
My favorite anime is Rurouni Kenshin. But I also like Outlaw Star, Digimon Adventure 01 and 02, Ranma 1/2, Fushigi Yuugi, and Trigun. I don't really like a lot of newer anime. I don't keep up with it as much as I used to.

Manga, however, I love anything by CLAMP, Iron Wok Jan!, and Battle Angel Alita.

I forgot about alot of those, Rurouni Kenshin was always great along with Outlaw Star was one of my absolute favorites, I was about 7 when I remember watching them on Adult Swim. Digimon was always fun I loved the third season the most, also Pokemon the first season was the great the others bad. CLAMP School Detectives was another one of my favorite Manga. Thank you for reminding me of these. Also have you ever heard of Mega Tokyo? I am almost finished the second volume, it seems very manga but it's drawn by American artists.
Yeah, i like a lot of clamp's anime such as Tsubasa and xxHolic. I think they make Code Geass as well don't they?
