THE OFFICIAL MULTIPLAYER TOPIC. SERIOUSLY PLAY SOME GAMES TOGETHER.

Posts

I'm going to revitalise this topic: "C'mon people! Let's play some games together!"
I'm going to list the current PC games (that are multiplayer) that I have currently installed (yeah, I don't have any consoles :P), and if anyone wishes to play, please post :).
- F.E.A.R. (this includes F.E.A.R. Combat).
- F.E.A.R. 2 Project Origin.
- Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.
- Half-Life 2 Deathmatch.
- Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory (though, this ALWAYS lags... Not too sure why).
- Wolfenstein (the recently released one :D).
- Far Cry 2.
That is about it. So, if anyone has any of these games and wishes to have a game or five two one time, just post!

Battle Realms is my favourite real-time strategy/tactics game ever. Against a backdrop of a highly stylized/romanticized feudal Japan, you pick one of four Clans, build a town and army and wipe out the other player/army as quickly as possible. You start by building peasant huts to make peasants, the base unit for the game. Peasants can build more buildings, gather rice and water, tame horses, and train in other buildings to become the units that comprise your army. Once trained, you can send the military units to other buildings to further their training, upgrading them into a better unit. An example of basic unit progression in the Dragon clan, for example might go: Peasant->Dojo(trains Spearmen)->Archery Range(turns a Spearman into a Dragon Warrior)->Alchemist Hut(turns a Dragon Warrior into a Samurai).
Each of the four clans dictates how the game plays- they all have the same basic types of units (melee/ranged/specialty) but each plays and is balanced differently, making for a fresh game experience every time you play.

Now, Battle Realms isn't a free game, but it's so old that it shouldn't be too hard to pick up a copy of it somewhere for cheap. It's a bit obscure, so eBay would be a good place to look.
Seeing as I totally condone piracyNot that I condone piracy, you might even be able to find it on the internets if you look hard enough.
The version to get is the one with the expansion pack, called Battle Realms: Winter of the Wolf. It adds some great new gameplay mechanics and new units without changing the original campaign mode or the basic game flow. It also adds a second campaign, harder than the first.
Trust me, this game is very well worth obtainingby whatever means you deem fit- I still have several friends I play it with regularly. We use Hamachi to play it over LAN, as it's otherwise hooked up to Gamespy Arcade, which, as many of you who are into retro PC gaming probably know all too well, sucks balls.

If you get/have Battle Realms, drop me a line on here, or at my email (cartographicalapparatus@gmail.com) and we'll hook up and play this beast sometime. It's great fun, and you can do maps with up to eight players. It gets pretty intense. The last few times I've played this, I've thought it would fit RMN well.
Is it possible to play Dissidia online?

can't make a bad game if you don't finish any games

It is, though I don't know if my JP version is any good over here.
More importantly, is it really laggy?

I am interested. The next time I have a decent amount of freetime to figure the game out with, I will locate a copy of it by whatever means necessary (wait am I doing this striking out thing right??) and play it.
