I say good on 'em, and I'm glad old peeps finding love is making news. Folks all too often forget that the elderly are still human beings with autonomy and who are deserving of respect, so things like this serve as a nice reminder for the more ignorant among us, y'know?

So yeah I'm gonna second that mazel tov and add in my own whispered reminder to treat your elderly relatives like people instead of a future inheritance.

I don't know for sure, obvs, but I would actually guess it's due to the fact they know there won't be any pregnancies? People are very bad about protection when they think the only thing they're preventing is pregnancy. Also I would guess 1) lack of access to safer sex supplies, since the popular belief is that people become sexless beings once they hit a certain age, so why bother stocking up old folks' homes? and 2) lack of knowledge/education wrt to safer sex supplies. They're highly stigmatized things, even for people who grew up with sex education!

IDK MAN it's all theories, I have no evidence for any of this so take it with a grain of salt.

if someone is brave enough to poop on the street, i say they're a braver person than I. poop time is alone time, in my book, not matter how much a poop wants to come out.
