I'll have to mess around with it a bit first, but probably? I'm looking forward to the prerelease trial, if there is one this time -- I remember there was a game jam surrounding Ace's trial, where people did the best they could within the trial restrictions. it was pretty fun -- especially the bit where people started finding sneaky ways around map limits and so on.
We had two Ace events: One when there was an English trial and one when Ace Lite was released. The English trial only had a 30 day restriction iirc, the Japanese trial had a boatload of various restrictions including not being able to load a game. The Ace Lite was like the Japanese trial in that it had a pile of restrictions but you could save/load a game and there was no time restriction.
Both the Japanese trial and Ace Lite had the same workarounds, mainly that you could inject scripts through several event commands that weren't locked down (Move Event, Variable Operation, and the branch thingy), you could just tell the script to load("Data/all_my_awesome_scripts.rb"). Or for more fun, the script file was interchangeable between RMVX and Ace, so you could copy the script file from Ace into a VX game, make your changes, and then copy it back to your game and skip the whole song and dance. From there and avoiding direct references you could work around almost all the restrictions.
It was fun but holy shit I never want to play another vanilla Ace game after playing all of the Ace Lite event games. (conversely same with the 2k3 battle system after the 2k3 event)

I'm thinking about it.
- Don't know price yet
- not many scripts will be available. Not a fan of default gameplay.
Though I might try the trial.

The problem with a new engine is the graphical nightmares for single developers.
If you want entirely new graphics, instead of using the ones provided in the RTP, the more complex they are the longer you'll be developing them before you even go ahead with the scripting and etc.
The first time i TRIED making a game with new graphics for rpg maker xp i had to give up after an entire year of developing graphics for it. When Ace came it was even worse because the quality expected for the tiles had increased.
I'm not getting this one. I wouldn't be able to do anything outside of the RTP with it.

Yeah, when it's on a ridiculous sale.
I am hoping someone will buy it for me, but if not I will buy it myself, if only to be generally aware of its features.
Its not like I've made an earnest game in any engine since 2k3 anyway, despite owning all of them.

I was gonna ask how befuddle quest 7 is coming along but I think you just answered my question
:(
I'm going to wait and see the user reviews.
Also this. Because I'm cheap.

Depends on word of mouth and if the eventing process is on par with 2k3 or at least better than VX Ace was, then I’ll definitely consider buying it, seeing how I should really upgrade to something else since I’ve been using 2k3 for so awfully long and I know more about how to use JavaScript than I do know how to code with Ruby. But I’ll let all the other suckers go dabble and go through it first and go through all the painstaking trails and tribulations before I jump in.
author=YeasterI'm gonna buy it on steam this time, just because if I'm unsatisfied I can fully refund it.
Probably not. I'll never have time to work on anything. For that reason, I kinda regret buying Ace.
Heck maybe I'll buy it as full price, have fun with it, refund it, then when it goes on a ridiculous sale-- actually buy it then.

Hahahaha, yes... this is my evil plan!
I don't have much choice. I have to get it.
