So, I'm pretty much done with two games, aside from testing in the second case, and a minor update in the first case.

I currently am looking to make a game with the New Rpgmaker 2003.

Since I completely loathe the conventional style rpg (well not completely, but I hate ATB with a passion, and I'm tired of planning around leveling, as much as I like to grind), I have come up with three half-baked ideas.

A straight up puzzle game based on a wizard's journey to be accepted into mage school (and beyond, there is probably a quest waiting midway through school). The wizard can use spells passively, that is, you have a bunch of spells, which rather than using directly, the event you touch will ask if you want to use X spell (if you have that spell and the mana to use). The "battles" in the game will either involve equipped spells (whenever you learn a new spell, you get an equip too, and I'll rig up a common event that checks the equips when dealing with monsters to use a weakness if you use the right "attack spell").

A platformer. I would need help with this one (at least, I'll have to figure out how to do it). I wanna make something sorta CaveStory-like with a plot heavy deal.

A visual novel horror dungeon crawler. You make choices, and depending on what you choose, and some luck, you either make it out alive or... well don't. I want monsters to be picture based, and the whole thing to be text heavy. If I elect for this one, I could really use someone who can draw people. I can draw people okay by hand, but I don't have a tablet, and it takes me a long long time. I can draw backgrounds or edit existing art.

Why not try all three, you ask? Well, I haven't the attention span. I would spread myself thin and not finish any, in all likelihood.
I see no dating sim here.

I'm not quite sure why you're using a poll to ask this. Like, I kinda doubt it should matter what gets the most votes. I think the real question is which of these ideas are you more inclined to make, but, you're not willing to admit which one you're most inclined to make.

But, what would I know?
Visual novel = dating sim. Even when it doesn't.

If your using RPG Maker I wouldn't make a dating Sim. I would save that for Renpy.

Puzzle games are probably easier to make than platformers, but I have seen the 2 combined in a number of games on the site.
It's not terribly difficult on rpgmaker. I work with pictures all the time, and the type of game I intend is likely just pictures and simple choices.

From what I saw of LOLNinja's game, it was extremely fun. I also know I can't even begin to understand how to do the physics.

Since the last two games I've done have been puzzle rpgs, I'm gonna pass on that, and try to do an art-heavy visual novel. Well, art-heavy, and possibly relying on facesets to represent people.
For you, the dating sim thing would probably work out best.
Well, dating sim is probably a goofy euphemism. I completely suck at writing romantic lines (as evidenced by my attempt at chapter four of Tales, which thankfully had creatures that are even more clueless about love than I am, and so was helped a bit by that).

Technically, it will be a visual novel. Probably this means a parallax and faceset visual novel, which is along the same lines as Radical Dreamers (for those who aren't familiar, it was a Chrono Trigger sequel that had mostly stills and artwork, and was a dungeon crawler based on the visual novel choice branch system, it had impossible battles, where you couldn't see hp and had to make choices based on limited information). I'm gonna try to make it turn-based, based on variables of initiative, attack, and such. Because it's choice based, I'm gonna make attacks Pokemon style, with four options, that you have to trade off. Probably going to make items only usuable outside of battle, and have four battle options too (Attack/(SkillName)/(Other, probably a special skill depending on the character)/Flee. I seriously doubt there will be dating, and there may or may not be a romantic interest. However, all visual novels are dating sims. It's the law.

You haven't played a lot of visual novels, have you?
Pffft. Joke.

I think I've at least played The World is Made of Paper, and a few others. I've played some dating sims, including one where the main character was a "girl" in high school and the other girls were prospective dates. Hana Otome it's called. I've played few Renpy games because using Renpy for what it can already do well is boring. I might try a legit dating sim, but then I would literally need to steal random pictures of anime girls (not like I have a big problem with this, but still). I might also try something like Lighthouse or Myst, where there is no battle per se, but it's more puzzle based. I'm gonna work on a premise then build a framework around it.
People need me to make this game. I know they do.
Then, if you're inclined to make it, do so.

Frankly, if you're having trouble coming up with which to make next, roll a dice/flip a coin and do that. Or the one you are most amped up about.
I think I'm gonna do the visual novel then. Currently i've got too many pictures to work with and need to thin it out. I initially decided on a dungeon quest, but now I came up with sorta a mix of autobiography and fantasy, with some dating sim thrown in. Oddly, I'm gonna allow for choices in my own life story. The idea probably sounds boring but I thought I'd try something new, since there are a zillion fantasy and horror games.
