I'm pretty fucking upset at the moment. I'm actually a very nice guy when I'm calm, and I tend to write what's on my mind instead of sugar coating it. What I meant was this sites standards and such, if any of you are super models, whoopee, good for you, eat a damned steak every once in a while.

Anyways, I'm just trying to figure out Gamejolt, that's all.. I react to people how they react to me, you're nice, I'm nice, you're a dick, I'm a dick- within reason of course. I'm still a fairly new member on the active side, so y'all are still getting to know me. Bound to be a few bumps here and there, you know?

Anywho, if I get hot under the collar, know that it's not directed at you, if it is, then it soon won't be...

That escalated quickly!

It's better to invest some time into a game, and work on it when you have the time and the spark to. It's supposed to be fun. Trying to birth a game in a day just isn't gonna happen. It takes some time and you as the developer can give it all or none of the attention it needs. Work on it for an hour a day, or whatever fits your schedule.

We really aren't that picky here, this place just isn't a place to dump your game. Why should we as developers trying to help bother to give our own time up to comment on your game or try helping you progress and grow? You get what you put in.

And sometimes people shit on games and those games don't go anywhere. It happens all the time, even to games that had a lot of time put into them. There's no guarantee for these things. Half the fun is making the game and learning new things. It's not supposed to be a chore. It's a hobby and meant for relaxing. (most of us anyways) It shouldn't be a mad rush to make a crapfest just to upload and show the dookie you just made in the toilet.

Stand back. Artist at work. I paint with enthusiasm if not with talent.

No one has been a dick at you though? The only one being a rude twit is you.

Like, literally everybody has to go through the same submission process and everybody gets their shit accepted even when it stinks so bad you can barely call them games as long as they manage to cover the very lenient requirements, but you're throwing a childish tantrum over your stuff not meeting standards so low that they're subterranean instead of sucking it up and improving like everybody else who gets declined, and instead choose to flip your shit. Is this attitude proper for someone who wants to join the navy?

What i find tragic is that i know people under fifteen here who've taken their declines with a level of dignity so admirable that is enviable and strive to better themselves, and they do, and then there's people like you. Like I truly hope you come back to read the stuff you're writing a few years after the navy has hopefully done some improvement to your character because holy shit.

Edit: Also this site is home to some of the nicest god damn people i've ever met and they're all helping each other in such am altruistic way it almost seems ingenuine, you can opt to help them help you help your game or you can bugger off to gamejolt or wherever, just dont expect anyone to give a shit if you lash out like this. It's not on.
First off, Mirak, buddy, I am openly stating that I apologize, I openly stated I was venting my frustration, and by you, and your friends words, have humbled me. I am sorry for hurting you.

And I'm also openly stating that I'm trying to keep a level head here, not trying to lose it again. this is a forum, and I might be used to things getting handled a bit differently.

This is a new site, a new community, a new start. What I must remember is that you all have as much, if not more, passion and experience, then I do. So, as you said, it's not on point.

I am openly stating that I am scared that my lack of experience in how things work here, is causing me to lash out, and that I must expect negative energy sent out to return as negative energy. Therefor, I must send out positive energy, so that positive energy may return.

I am openly stating that I am simply following the advice of those that have posted in this thread, and that I thank all of you. I must've missed a step somewhere, and my impudence and idiocy will get me into more hot water. I'll learn from you guys what you guys'll be willing to teach me.

Infectionfiles, you're right, sometimes shit just goes sideways, I need to learn that this is part of the process in this community.

I'd rather not be on the outside looking in... I've been in that spot too many times in my life, and it can be a bit frustrating... Where I choose to upload, is up to me. Do I genuinely feel bad for shouting at a mountain, expecting it to turn into a beach, and getting angry when it does not? Yes, I do.

Can I promise that it not going to be a repeating case? No, I can't.
All I can do is simply learn to scale the mountain, and hope for the best.

It happens, man. We are quite the basket of characters here. :
:D

If you're open then so are we!

I'd also like to point out that now is a good time in the community to get your name out there and make some friends. We really aren't that large of a community and if you come here daily you'll find that we have our regulars and then the normal userbase. I think it's pretty easy to get in with this forum and not feel like you're on the outside. Just keep up the positive vibes and you'll fit in nicely. And if someone wrongs you within legitimate reason you're free to defend yourself. Just do it in a manner where people don't go "woaah slow your role there haus"

There's ways to handle things without fucking the sites brains out and cursing its name! ^.^

In all honesty, what are they expecting? Shadow squares off of every object? Battleback looping under black spots in the foreground? roting crystal gifs and opening and closing door animations? I don't get it, I'm trying not to get it, and I'll just submit the game on gamejolt and try my luck there. I told y'all I'd keep you updated on the progress of the games, no matter the level of the frustration, and that's what I'm going to do.

I'm not going anywhere just yet, I'm just done trying to please the apparent Supermodels of the Game Making community.

Thousands of games have gotten accepted here. If you're not willing or able to learn the absolute basics to get your game accepted here, then yes, you'll have to go to Gamejolt or somewhere else. But its not honestly a high bar to pass.

People here are willing to help. Show your work, ask questions, and we will provide as best we can.
Just a reminder that the link I posted in the denial note is to help you pass that low bar we have set - that link includes not only a set of links to the best of our mapping tutorials, but also a link to the New Developer Mapping Thread, where you can post images of your game for help in figuring out what goes where and how, but also the Screenshot Thread where people give feedback to game images (I recommend the first, though, since you're still learning and it's more in-depth and focussed).

We do want to encourage people to mak gam, but we also do have standards because we want a few things:
- Players to have a good selection of games to play
- People to play your game/s and give you feedback on how to grow (your game is stacked up against all the other games on the site, remember, so it has to at least look decent to draw players in)
- You not to get scared off when people critique your game (best way to do this is to have at least a decent presentation when it comes to images and description)
- You to get a good experience out of the site (not get crapped on by our more blunt members who call a spade a spade without the sugar-coating, by having a game that at least meets the basic standards)
- Help you get on the site (which is why we make sure to include notes with a deny, letting you know what needs fixing)

I know it can be discouraging to get denied and told that your game is currently below standards, but that doesn't mean it will always be. It doesn't mean we don't want you to get better and join us, either. A lot of games get denied in the queue the first time around - most from description issues, but a fair amount from map problems. There's some who go elsewhere, yes, but there's also a lot who want to get better and use the tools given to do so, and grow into great creators by their own right.

Whatever you decide to do, I hope you do well, just understand that there are many reasons we have the standards in place and that it's certainly nothing personal against you or your game.
