Has anyone tried making a first-person dungeon crawler like Etrian Odyssey, the Dark Spire or Wizardry? Is there a engine that could be used to make one?

Here's one from 2011 made with RMVX: Fracture

And a few people here are currently working with VX Ace to achieve a similar style.
So yes it's been done before but it's uncommon. I'd like to see more games like that too :)
