If I find a job, I might buy a PSP or a DS at the end of the year as a present for myself, but I really don't know what to get. Any suggestions? Also, I have no understanding or either systems and what games they have availability. I only know DS as a cool touch screen.
I've got a DS and M3 card on it which supports micro SD memorycards. Basically means that I can load games, pictures, movies and etc. to the card on my pc and then enjoy them on my DS.
I've got around 30 games on the card, but I still buy the good games (like Chrono Trigger when it'll be released.)

PSP all the way. Seriously just buy the PSP with a game or two then get a 4 gig memstick and throw yourself into the world of the past. Playing PSOne, SNES, NES, Genesis, Movies, Music, Homebrew games, I could go on. Also the PSPs game library ain't that bad anymore.
@ Tau: *confused* ???
I usually buy best games, but there's so many games that just aren't worth it, and that's where the card comes handy.
Though I've considered getting PSP too...

Do you need to crack your DS in any way to do that kind of stuff?

author=YummyDrumsticks link=topic=1950.msg31899#msg31899 date=1221508072I'd bet there will be far more RPG releases for DS than PSP. Square's continously releasing something for DS, and all the time I keep hearing about some new RPG for DS.
Yeah, I was planning on doing what Rei- does, but I generally play RPGs, and Brain Age.
There's even a Suikoden coming for DS, what the hell?
Oh yeah, Tiekersis (SP). Hmm ... I was told by my brother that there were more RPGs on the DS, but when I think about it, I can't really name any of them other than Final Fantasy VII Sephiroth's Revenge Midgar Comet Jenova. I kind of wanted to play the Star Ocean games on there, but I guess its not worth it since they are remakes anyways.
I have both and for a while I did not play DS at all. Part of this was that I had haxored my PSP and part of it was that the DS did not have a ton of games that I wanted for the first few years. However I play DS all the time now and have not played PSP for a very very long time. I would recommend a DS over a PSP big time. My PSP actually has like . . . a lot of dust on it.
The Phoenix Wright series alone is worth the cost of a DS and the carts. Toss in stuff like Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, Pokemon Diamond & Pearl, Professor Layton and the Curious Village, Etrian Odyssey and the World Ends With You and what you've got is basically the best gaming library of any of the platforms that are still being actively developed for.
Also, I'll bet the reason brandonabley agreed to give the DS another chance was Dragon Quest IV and IX.

Neither system is worth the cost they are. The PSP doesn't have a huge library of games, but playing SNES, NES, etc wherever you want is the huge plus, at least for me. The DS has tons of shovelware, but the RPGs that do come out for it are pretty good.
But let me see if I can make a quick list of RPGs for you...

Other strategy RPGs for DS, there's Advance Wars DS, Luminous Arc (which I highly recommend) and they're releasing Luminous Arc 2 in November. I want it now. Gr.
I'm a DS supporter, but mine is trashed. The top screen is cracked, the picture is fading to white, it has a red ting, one hinge is broken, the L and R buttons are burned out, the GBA slot is bent in and cracked.... In spite of all that, if I really needed to, I could still get it to be fully functional, with much inconvenience.... And GBA games that don't need L/R to play work great on it still (I moved the GBA screen to the bottom one).
I've played about 100 more hours on Pokemon Pearl under the above conditions. Go DS.

What the hell did you do to the poor thing!? Jeez.
It was an especially long debate tournament, okay? I was bored.
So naturally, it turned into a game of capture the flag, only with a DS (and without my consent).

Who the crap does that? Even a soda bottle full of rocks would've worked, and you know... not expensive.
I am a filthy pirate and deserve to get kicked in the teeth.
