MV IS OUT!

It would need to be extremely user-friendly, integrate well with other plugins, and provide a feature that we can't get elsewhere. Make a materia system or something.
Wow, it really did sneak up.
My big question is... Is this program that awesome that I should dump the hefty amount to buy it now or wait until it goes on some sort of big steam sale (Like Humble Bundle)?
This coming from an individual who is in moderately stable financial situations now. (I was even able to donate to RMN last month!)

Okay Steam, it's past release time, where's my download?
I seem to recall some mention of MV being able to import games from previous engines? Like VX Ace to MV possibly?
Why are people even pre-ordering the steam-only version when you could get it cheaper from RMW, with nice little bonuses and a steam-key included? I suppose some people just like to support Valve over RPG Maker/Enterbrain.
However, if the 12 hour delay for the steam version wasn't informed to customers before the release...then that is pretty...douche? If everyone who bought the steam version was told that they were going to get MV at the same time as everyone else, that is.

I believe it wasn't so much of a delay as people who bought it through the RMW store got it early. I believe the "delayed" time was the same as the time they had actually stated the product to go live.
I was never made aware that preordering directly from Degica would result in me getting the program a day earlier, and only preordered from Steam because I didn't know the Degica version came with a Steam key anyway. If I'd known that I would have changed my order.
It's more than $10 more expensive to buy on RMW's store than Steam for Canadians. $71* USD is $93 CAD according to Google and that's before any additional credit card exchange fees (afaik only Amazon's credit card doesn't have an additional fee on top of the normal exchange rate). Steam has a listed price in CAD of $80* which doesn't have any exchange cost. This saved me at least $10 CAD so the choice was pretty clear. The preorder bonuses should be available for both. The only thing you don't get on Steam is a non-Steam version and 12 hrs difference in release time. I'll take my extra ten bucks any day of the week myself.
*this is the preorder price, checked when I ordered two days ago
I dunno about specific release dates and times. At the very least steam said when it was being released approximately, and I think it was just the usual time of day when Steam makes new releases available.

You lucky SOB’s… I’m as jealous as that kid next door that watches you play from afar with all those brand new toys of yours wishing that I had them too. I hope you all choke! (Not really, though, lol.)
I have a question for those who have fiddled around with MV thus far - but how’s the eventing system for this? Is it on par with VX Ace or even on par with 2k3? How much can you roughly do before everything starts to chug and chug hard?
Either way, I’ll probably wait around for a while until a couple of sample games get released on here to try out or some reviews happen to come in about how the engine works and all before, perhaps, making the jump to it. I already have an idea in mind of probably what I'm going to do with it, but I don’t mind holding off until then.
I'm guessing probably sometime in November.

So will there be an MV kickoff event in the near future?
I'm guessing probably sometime in November.
So I poked around a bit, and it all looks pretty promising (minus some of the enemy "battlers". What the heck is up with that dragon?!). I look forward to midterm season being over so I can actually start working on something and getting into the guts of the system and plugins.
I am a bit annoyed that only the female sprites in the character maker get headphones, although there's probably a way to copy them over that I'm not aware of.

Well, apparently we have an amazing chara generator with the side view battle system. One thing I'm wondering if it will come about - Not necessarily an enemy battler generator, but how about an enemy battler animation set? Why are heroes the only ones that are animated?!
I can't afford this right now, unfortunately. I need to save up for xmas, and I just had to drop $80 on a replacement copy of Super Mario Maker (thanks to my 3yo!).
i did notice a bit of lag though. it might me that mv is 5 years more advanced than ace, ie i need a new machine
but it does take half a second to open the menu
