ClosePretty sure Corrin's inclusion is purely an advertising gimmick. He's an important character in the next Fire Emblem to be released, so they're trying to raise his popularity (and, therefore, sales). I might complain, but I'd feel too entitled doing so after all the other great stuff they put in the game.

This is most likely the culprit. Hell, it's probably why Square let them put Cloud in the game: gotta market that FF7 Remake!
In related news, Cloud is really fun. I'm probably going to wind up using him in my rotation of "mains" from now on.

I still would have preferred Cecil or Black Mage to represent Final Fantasy but oh well it's fine.
Bayonetta looks like she'll be really good.
I know some people are complaining about that new Fire Emblem character but whatever the cast of this Smash is so damn big. I'm happy with what we got overall.
In fact I was content once I learned Shulk was in it. Everything else is just extra gravy at this point.
Although the Xeno series is now my favorite RPG series, Final Fantasy is what I grew up with so I am glad it's getting represented and I understand 7 is the popular one so it's all good.

I couldn't identify all of the Fire Emblem characters in Smash. I am not familiar with the series at all. But if I am to hazard a guess, I would start with all of the characters with swords not named Link (or Cloud, now).

This would make sense, since their respective games were originally Nintendo exclusive and Cloud hasn't ever appeared on a Nintendo console, but Cloud is obviously the most popular character.
Captain N would have been OP.

I'm saddened that, since Namco helped develop this game, we never got Mappy as a character. He would've fit in so well!
I tried Cloud last night. He was buckets of fun. I didn't figure out how his limit bar works, though. I suppose that will be for the next time I play.

Down B charges it and it fills from taking damage too. Once you have a full limit bar and start glowing your B moves become limit breaks, so Side B = Cross Slash, Neutral B = Blade Beam, etc.
I am surprised that characters like Bomberman, Toad, and Simon Belmont never made the cut. Mostly Toad, what with Super Mario 3D World and Captain Toad games n' all.

Bomberman would be cool and Simon Belmont should definitely be in there but because Konami is in shambles it's unlikely.
Another Konami charater I'd like is Goemon from Mystical Ninja. He's basically their mascot.

Seems silly to include a sixth Fire Emblem character (making it the second most represented series behind Mario) but hey, what do I know, I don't play stupid softcore hentai dating sim SRPGs.
The funny thing about this statement is that the Fire Emblem series never began as such and wasn't really this for a long time. The fact that it's going down that road after all these years kind of screams of some sort of excessive desperation to sell.

Wow, really? I've played a few of the older ones and loved them for their game play and medieval lore. I wanted to, but haven't gotten a chance to play any of the new ones....... I'm kind of glad I saw this topic first.
It's easy to see how it could transform into a dating sim with the optional romance and large amount of bishies, but I never really gave it any thought.
That's a shame. Just another series added to that growing graveyard.
I guess those who like fantasy just for fantasy should stick to the darker styled ones. At least there shouldn't be any risk of those becoming full of mushy stuff......
