There should be a topic:
WHAT'S THE ONE FINISHED GAME THAT YOU WISH WAS CANCELLED?
Two games that immediately come to mind are Paradox Interactive's Runemaster and Cartel.
Older ones are probably Troika's Postapocalyptic game and Fallout 3.

I once wrote a review for a game that was supposedly so scathing that the game was cancelled... but the review wasn't even that bad!
Good times.
If only people would take in constructive criticism and learn from it instead of taking it personally, maybe we'd see many better titles in the RPG Maker world. It's a lot easier to take critique when we're working with a huge team instead of just by ourselves, and that perhaps is the big problem with 90% of cancelled RPG Maker projects out there.

it feels like cheating to name a project that was being developed over here, but Akropolis was full of interesting stuff and I'd be curious to see where it was all headed.
That's no problem. I intended for this topic to be for RPG Maker and other indie games, but I'm cool with discussing cancelled professional games.
Only one game resonates in a crack, deep inside my heart.
Steambot chronicles 2.
Just saying the name makes me bleed again.
So long, my love...

Though it's on hiatus rather than cancelled, The Realms Shattered. Only a relatively short demo is available and yet it's easily one of my favourite rm games.
author=Pizza But yeah, the problem is that it just betrays the source material on such a broad and such a deep level that to me, someone who lists Banjo-Kazooie & Tooie as tied for his second favourite game of all time, it's basically unplayable.
I was so offended by Final Fantasy X-2 that I had to stop playing. That was over a decade ago, though... And after weathering three FF13 games I think I have the constitution to attempt a second playthrough.
Oh, you poor fucker. Doesn't it suck knowing Square Enix makes games for people who aren't whiny pathetic losers like you? Doesn't knowing how successful the FFXIII games are make you want to jump out a window, you sad lowlife?

My first answer is A Blurred Line, but apparently it may not be cancelled and may still be in production. Lysander86 still comes back and says he's working on it every now and then.
A Blurred Line was way overhyped for me, at least with gameplay. I loved the first half of the game, not so much the second half, and I hated that game within the game scenario.
But otherwise, story-wise it was great and I wanted to see the ending so bad. The fact that Lys continues to taunt us, though, that makes me a bit more stressed than if he had just declared it cancelled.
Necropolis was the second game. My gosh, it was probably one of the best retro-styled horror games I've played, and still one of the best demo's.
The Akara games from VX. There's 3 of them, and they all end on cliff hangers. I was hoping for one final one, but the developer said it wasn't likely to happen. I may just say to hell with it and do a sort of fan game of it myself one day.
And that leaves me to a final thought:
If we can make fan games of existing commercial rpg's, why can't we do the same for these? If a game we wanted is cancelled or left in a vague void of uncertainty, why not do a fan tribute? If the developer objects, sure, remove it, but many of them probably would be okay with the effort.
Chrono Break
(also final fantasy x-2 is amazing and i feel sorry for anyone who hasn't been exposed to its brilliance)
