XENOBLADE CHRONICLES X
Posts
I'm playing Xenoblade X right now. I got a free pizza for pre-ordering it! Anyway I'm having fun with it. It's a very complex game even more so than the first.
If you are new to the Xeno series you can play this before the Wii game.
If you love more story driven stuff then the first Xenoblade seems superior so far but the story of this new game seems good also just keep in mind I haven't beat the new game yet.
I'd also recommend the game that started it all back in the 90's Xenogears for PlayStation 1. Which is the most story driven of all of them.
I never got to play Xenosaga unfortunately but all the Xeno games I've played so far are among the best games I've ever played in my life and hopefully this new one will be too.

I played about 20 hours of Xenogears years back, but I did not own it and was on limited time last time I played. I recently got a Playstation Vita to play at work and I bought Xenogears on PSN for it. So soon I shall play.
I have about 19 hours on Xenoblade X now. The story is getting really damn interesting now, even though there are some goofy side characters that annoy me a bit. The world is still wowing me in every way possible and despite playing this much I barely tapped the surface on the world. It's really accomplishing to fill out each percentage rate.

If you liked Xenoblade, you should really check out Xenosaga, especially III. The quality of the characters and plot in Xenoblade/Xenoblade X doesn't even hold a candle to the 'saga games.
as a huge fan of xenosaga, don't play i/ii. they're horrible. just watch the opening cutscene of ii since it's great and then play iii.
xs1 can be summarized as such:
xs2's summary:
now you can play the amazing xenosaga 3!
xs1 can be summarized as such:
shion uzuki is a scientist on a space station. aliens named gnosis have come to eat all the big crosses in the world. kos-mos, a cannon shaped like t&a, blows a lot of them up. all the humans in the world want the y-data to learn about the crosses and heaven and maybe how to stop the aliens? but the y-data is stuck inside a synthetic loli who has a weird not-daddy relationship with an angry cyborg who kicks meteors. shion protects the loli from Evil Wolverine, another synthetic human, while meandering about the solar system. also a small man and jesus help. there is an inexplicable forest dungeon in this and every future installment of this space opera.
xs2's summary:
all the people who wanted the y-data hid in the loli may or may not have rekt a planet a decade or so ago in their fighting. small man gets really, really angry a lot at Evil Wolverine. the party spends a lot of time inside the head of the loli learning about the little girl she replaced. angry cyborg notdaddy and loli's original girl's mom kinda become friends i think? small man yells a lot more. shion's nerdy brother makes curry with shion. jesus hits on a synthetic human named canaan. kos-mos has boobs? forest dungeon. OH YEAH RELIGION IS EVIL

I haven't played Xenosaga 2 or 3 because I disliked the first one so much.
So I have a mecha now. Important: It's also a transformer. The sprint button turns it into a car that zips across the terrain in no time.

I have never played a Xeno-anything game before, I know nothing about any of its universe. Now thanks to Craze I am just really confused!

Xenosaga really has nothing to do with Xenoblade. Hell, this Xenoblade has pretty much nothing to do with the previous Xenoblade outside of combat mechanics.

There's one reason to play Xenosaga II, and that's so that you can fight a church
Sorry Craze I didn't read your summaries I'd rather experience it for myself.
I could have sworn people usually say the first Xenosaga was the best of the 3. Well either way one day I'll figure out for myself. I'm sure I can eventually get a hold of those games. Supposedly someone at Namco wants to remake Xenosaga which would be good timing since Xenoblade's current fame should allow those remakes to sell well.
Anyway just to show a more balanced look at Xenoblade X, despite the fact that I'm enjoying it overall I have a few gripes.
The music in the city of NewLA for both day and night is not that great. They tasked some famous anime composer with all the music of the game but I miss the old Xeno series composer Yasunori Mitsuda. Who by the way also made the music for Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross.
Also it's new soul voice healing system takes some getting used to. They put that in because some advanced players of the last game said that having dedicated healer class was useless. Which I think those players are nuts. Sharla was plenty useful. But whatever it's not a deal breaker but to me personally I enjoyed the old battle system of the first Xenoblade more.
Xenogears still has the best story I've ever seen in a game. Just so you know ahead of time zDS, Squaresoft cut the budget on the 2nd disk of Xenogears (because they're assholes) so that last part of the game is almost all storyline with little gameplay. I didn't mind since to me the story was the main draw of the game but it's definitely a noticeable shift.

I looked on Amazon and they were sold out ha but I finally got it a few days ago. Loving it so far.
I would agree that the music is kinda lame. First of all the balance is way off with no option to change it. I had to turn on the subtitles because sometimes the music was so loud that I could barely hear the people talking. And any music with lyrics in a game is fucking dumb, especially in the middle of a cutscene where people are talking.
Also, when you have a party of 4 and are running around or swimming fast, the way the animations are synced up the resulting sound is very repetitive and annoying. The after battle chit chat was fun at first, but when they say the same thing over and over it's getting on my nerves now.
I really hate characters like Tatsu. sigh
It suffers the same problem that Phantasy Star Universe did. The long awkward pauses between lines of dialogue, camera pans, and scene changes really ruins the sense of flow the story could have. It feels disjointed.
There's a lot that is annoying and not what I had hoped, but everything else about the game is pretty rad. I enjoy the battle system, exploring, all the customization, how you acquire gear, data probes. Not a big fan of how the multiplayer works but at least there is something.

lol my summaries were 100% joking garbage anyway. you're not missing much.
i will never understand when anybody says xenogears has a good story. it's complete baloney. it's just so bombastic and ~mysterious~ that it's hard to realize how thin and pathetic it is when you're in the moment. it has some good moments, but god. the whole thing is that purple-haired women are god. basically. it's such bullshit.
note: xenosaga is the EXACT SAME WAY but xs3 is also just a really fun and well-put-togeter jrpg so i like it.

How is that your interpretation of Xenogears story? (I mean you can interpret a story anyway you want but still) Miang isn't god. Miang I'm pretty sure was an analog to Lilith, Adam's first wife in the bible.
I'm not to good at summaries but basically it's a story about challenging religion and authority in general. It's about finding your own path and purpose in life and not allowing a supposed higher power dictate what your life is.
I suppose it makes sense to keep talking about everything other than this game.
I had a strange problem where I couldn't see my friend in the menu when you look for friends, but we were able to join the same squad and add to favorites. It even gave me the option to add him as a friend, but then I got a Wii U error saying he was already on my list.
Anybody else have experience with the multiplayer? ACTUAL multiplayer with a real person in your party?

The rabbit-eared mecha is pretty neat and is what my protagonist is using at the moment.
It was pretty expensive but I just bought two additional mecha for a total of four. This means I can field an entire party in mecha now, so that's cool.

I haven't got any Skells yet. I heard somewhere that I gotta get through chapter 6 first. Which is next for me. I'm thinking of caling my Skell WelTall lol so original aren't I :p Although I'll probably make it red like Id's WelTall.
Here's a Q for everyone. Who's in your typical team? I ussually have Elma, Lin, and Lao with me.

The game makes you use Elma and Lin for the story missions. But during everything else I use L, Irina, and then whoever I'm trying to gain affinity with (currently Doug).
