NEED HELP WITH A STEAMPUNK SETTING

First of all I am sorry if this topic doesn't belong here. I am trying to redo my game Destiny Quest in RPG Maker VX Ace with a Steampunk setting. The problem I am having is I hate to admit it, but I am horribly stupid when it comes to this type of setting. I know almost nothing about science. So yes call me dumb. I googled Steampunk, and cannot find anything useful to help me. Could anyone explain what I need to know please?

The bigger thing for doing a Steampunk setting is that the tiles are pretty limited I would think. Unless of course you're doing custom.
But to make it simple, Steampunk is sorta of a reimagining of a industrial age era applied to a more futuristic setting or a western type one.
Gears, steam engines, skyships, cranks, levers and chains make up a high rise slum-city with many great clocks and bronze toned metal bridges over dark river waters.
Stuff like that, but by looking into the definition or images on google to really educate yourself otherwise you might want to go with a different setting.
It's a great theme and when done well can be really awesome but it is a abit advanced especially if you're looking for steampunky tilsesets.

Best of luck though!

Well, steampunk comes in all different appearances, but it is based upon the old appearance of steam machines such as steamboat engines and trains. Pipes, gears, and copper and brass casings will dominate the scenery and characters will be mostly dressed in Victorian era finery. People will also have prosthetics in the steampunk fashion. Steampunk settings also include anachronistic technology, such as airships and robots made with steam motors. Clockwork also figures prominently.

Now, there are actually a few Steampunk tilesets available for purchase from RPGMakerweb.com. My favorite is Wild Steam, because not only does it come with examples, it comes with hundreds of file "pieces" that you can fashion into your own machines.

Oh shit, pianotm! I didn't know the Wild Steam had been released. Last I was really active it hadn't been released yet. Awesome!
I would have suggested that then!

I love the high fantasy resource packs that design company did. They are a little pricey but the style is amazing but I find it can be limited in a sense and be abit wonky in the Priority area.

Still cool though, I might grab it myself.

Oh, yeah. Wild Steam comes with 10 base characters, five males, and five females, with a bunch of different clothing options. It's all assembled like paper dolls so the combinations are limitless, even if the styles do seem a bit limited. Tilesets have an old west feel to them, and there are sample tiles that are filled with odd machines and steampunk handguns. I've purchased Wild Steam, and the High Fantasy pack, and I'd have to say Wild Steam is a little smaller, but because everything's in pieces that you can assemble, there's multitudes of more potential. That's alright though. In comparison to expansion packs from other companies, these are huge.

Also, the machine pieces come with alternate parts so you can animate wheels and propellers.

By the way, just found this and had to share:

Yes, that is a Lego steampunk AT-AT!
Ah, I know a fair bit about the subject. I don't want to drone on and on about the wrong thing though, so what aspects of steampunk are you interested in including in your game? Society, machinations, aesthetic, etc.
Thank you guys. I actually am planning to buy the Wild Steam Pack. However I did find some steam tiles, and edited Celianna's steampunk parallax tiles into tilesets(hopefully she won't mind). The style am I doing is anime though. I am not sure if the Wild Steam tiles would fit is the only problem. If I do use them, I'll use them not with the mack tilesets, but with the mack characters. My friend (Not anyone part of the RPG Maker Communities) did it with RTP style, and Mack Character sets, but used the Wild Steam tiles, and it looked good actually, he just couldn't make a world map. However my friend is new to RPG Maker, so what he did may have not been the choice with those graphics.

You know what you need to know about Steampunk? That it ain't got shit to do with science. It's magic with gears glued on. And bustles instead of dirndls.
