WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE ANIME? IS IT OKAY TO ASK THIS???
Posts
You'll be surprised. There are actually many people here who watch anime, and there have been a number of anime topics created here before (such as this and this).
For me, before I list my favorite anime, I'll show you a list of all anime I've watched: http://myanimelist.net/animelist/eplipswich
That being said, I'm more into romance anime, but some of my favorites include Madoka Magica, Clannad and Mushishi.

Fairy Tail
The cheesiest anime I've seen (ok not really, Yu-Gi-Oh Duel Monsters take the cake), with fan service so forced it can make you cringe. However the characters make it up for it. The show is entertaining and has many great moments. However, it's not perfect.

Wow you've watched a lot of the anime I have! I'm into ironic, funny anime like Nichijou and Everyday Life of Highschool Boys, but I also love horror, sci-fi, and fantasy.
I also like Clannad!

I agree, but I stopped watching at episode 12 because I was tired of Lucy being completely useless.
A lot escapes my mind right now, but I like Dragon Ball Z, Samurai Champloo, Gungrave, Hellsing annnd I do like Bleach.
Anime is about action/combat for me with character building or times of peace with soft filler stuff in between.
Edit: While we are on the subject, has anyone watched the new Dragon Ball Super?
I'm having a hard time understanding some of the decisions they made, where they say Super takes place before the end of DBZ before Battle of the Gods and Resurrection F and that it's all canon?
I don't get the timeline here no matter how much I look at it. Akira says it's all canon but Dragon Ball Super is like a retelling of Battle of the Gods storyline.
You would think that Super would start after Resurrection F which makes the most sense, Goku and Vegeta have their super sayain god forms blah blah and you begin the series anew.
But instead they opted to make it weird and complicated and basically start over where the movies have no place and aren't really "canon" as long as Super is "canon"
-tiny rant over-
Anyone else find that strange?

I agree with the good moments after/before action, but it always hurts so bad when something funny happens and then someone dies -I just can't stop crying-
I also like Hellsing^_^
1. Make sure not to double post, k?
2. Make sure not to spoil anything, if there's a spoiler use the hide command.

I don't like comedy in fight scenes or intense action. I live for the next badass animated fight sequence.
The stuff in between I enjoy, but ultimately it's all about the fighting.
And yay! Hellsing is the shit

You guys watched the original Hellsing or Hellsing Ultimate? Because I think Hellsing Ultimate is truly the ultimate one (more faithful to the manga and much better than the old Hellsing).
I have not watched Hellsing ultimate! Just the original. Thanks for the mention, me and my brother get together and watch anime, so I'll bring it up next time.

I don't like comedy in fight scenes either, unless the anime is supposed to be funny in general.I love funny stuff, it gives me hope for the characters, somehow

I watched Hellsing Ultimate, the older one hurts my eyes( I don't need anymore of that, I already need glasses)
World Trigger
This is easily my favorite anime of this year, last year, and probably next year. It has great characters and plot, and has some great combat scenes and laughs.

One Piece - while the anime is far inferior to the manga, it's still a great anime (especially before time skip) and it's one of the few anime where filler arcs are (for the most part) decent. It's just a world of adventure, friendship and dreams. Such a great story~
Also, TTGL is really good. Especially for the over-the-top battles near the end. I'm not really into mecha anime but this one had some really great moments and that ending...
Scrapped Princess is really good if you like a bit of twist ending and it's a pretty fresh idea for the most part.
Same with Shangri-La, which has a really good cast and the story is pretty good. I especially love the world and characters. Such a great little anime.
Fruits Basket has my vote for hilarity, followed closely by Ouran High School Host Club.
As for movies, there's King of Thorns, which is pretty cool (and the main guy is so cool!) and Red Line, which is an amazing animation even if it's a racing anime (but don't let that stop you! It's really fun and the designs are so cool. No, seriously, it's really good! It's basically a race through space and there's all these crazy aliens and shit and go watch that shit now, okay?)
Oh, and lastly, Monster. Either watch the anime or read the manga - watching/reading it is basically a must for any fan of anime/manga.
...oh, and Skip Beat is fun and funny.

I'm not a huge fan of anime overall and I haven't watched anything that the rest have you have listed (except one half-ep of Fairy Tail because it was some water guy yelling at Lucy and I found it amusing), but I do like some shows!
Psycho-Pass: I love film noir and I love seemingly-acceptable-yet-dystopian cityscapes. Psycho-Pass is everything that terrifies me and it's incredible while doing it.
Penguindrum: My favorite show... I love seemingly-acceptable-yet-dystopian cityscapes, and the show does everything it needs to do to matter. It's a very disturbing show (unsurprising, since it is about the after-effects of domestic terrorism), but if you can handle the squeamish bits I highly recommend it.
AMAGI BRILLIANT PARK: Amazing comedy. I adore it, especially Tiramy.

I don't watch much, but I liked Trigun, The Big O, Gurren Lagann, and the Hellsing Ultimate OVAs.
In terms of anime movies there's obviously Ghibli, of which my favourites are Castle in the Sky, Nausicaa, Mononoke, Arietty, Totoro, and Porco Rosso. Other great movies are Akira, Redline, Trigun: Badlands Rumble, and Ghost in the Shell.

While I think objectively, Legend of the Galactic Heroes is the best anime ever made, The Tatami Galaxy is the one that I've had the most fun watching. It's basically slice-of-life meets Groundhog Day on LSD.
Also, I will always second Liberty's Monster recommendation not just to fans of anime, but media in general. Real talk.
I fucking forgot One Punch Man.
It's a new anime but the manga has been out for a while, but it's one of the more interesting and fresh anime out there atm, and it's only gonna get bigger.
Also, Saint Young Men if you don't mind the idea of Jesus and Buddha being room mates in Japan and just living like modern 'normal' people do.

Yep, One Punch Man, of course :p It's worth all the hype.
The 2nd season won't come so soon though seeing how slow the chapters of the manga and the original webcomic are published.
