CloseRead Only Memories got me some inspiration for my current project, with the whole "investigation" thing.
...Sadly, most of said inspiration has been swallowed up by real life being depressing (school is screwing me over again), and me seeking refuge in Skyrim. And I have played literally nothing else for a week. Send help?
NOTE: I have been attending classes and in general being a functional adult, don't worry about me. But my free time has almost exclusively been been spent on skyrim.

@Aegix: Ask yourself a few things:
1. What makes you enjoy/play Skyrim so much?
2. Can you carry over anything for your game?
Also, while the game is not in my interests, you may enjoy The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

This is going to sound cheesy, but this website actually inspires me, and seeing all of the cool games people come out with.
I have noticed, however, that some people are really awesome with their games. This makes me just want to delete my files and get back to a normal sleep schedule. But then I remember, hey, people have downloaded my demo, and I've got four subscribers. Four! That's four more people than I ever thought would be interested when I began this endeavor. That's four people who liked it enough to see more of it! Four people who are interested in what I'm doing. Even though it's only four people right now, that's four people that care. So I do it for them.

...Sometimes I feel like I get inspired by one too many things.
Like, currently I'm trying to finish a horror game so I try to get inspired by other horror games (Silent Hill and Corpse Party come to mind) but then I start playing other genres and watch a bunch of different movies/shows and suddenly I feel like starting up a whole new projected that would be a modern fantasy, adventure-themed game because that's what I was inspired to do and I'm just like 'no, behave yourself. finish what you started'.
So I try to get back to the horror stuff :>
But back to the point, horror-wise, I got really inspired by Junji Ito's works (I've never been so fascinated by horror manga in my life) and for some reason watching youtubers play random horror games really helps me when I'm actually making my game, haha

Old RPG Maker 2000 games such as The Way or Dhux's Scar. Kinda motivates me to see good games made in the maker nowadays. I mean, I've been using the 2003 version for the project but sometimes I feel like I am outside the game field in front of the many projects in VX Ace and MV. So seeing those "old relics" makes me feel trying is still worth it.

To many things to name but I'd have to say, Sword Art Online, Dot.Hack//G.U., Dragons Dogma, Final Fantasy, just to name a few. Dot.Hack inspired me to start my Almora: Online RPG.
