They made a third one! This is news to me.
The first one was good and they should have stopped while they were ahead.

LOL if you think Dreamworks cares about making good movies. Dreamworks cares only about wringing as much money as possible from families with younguns.

I can confirm this, kind of (I took a look at their TV sector recently).

I found the second one enjoyable, but not really as good as the first. The first did a better job at creating an interesting story with a character that went through and overcame challenges to personally grow, the second introduced backstory that didn't really resonate or connect with anything that well and the theme wasn't as strong, but it was still action-packed and had its funny moments.

I'm actually anticipating the 3rd movie as well, at least under hope that it can possibly get on par with the first film (which may not be likely but meh).

Yeah, I really laughed hard at the first one, but the second one was just like...meh. In a lot of cases, trilogies make good movies: you get a good first film, and then you either get a bland second film and an enjoyable third film, or the other way around. Animated movies don't seem to work like that. Unless it's planned, they usually put out one good first offering and then everything after is a cash grab. The only real exception I can think of is Shrek. Shrek was a wonderful movie, but Shrek II really stood out to me as superior (the dinner scene is probably my favorite comedy scene of all time).
I found the second movie to be every bit as good as the first, and for me that was kind of special because sequels are usually much weaker than the first. But the villain for the second one was such a cool character that I felt that it helped carry the movie.

Judging by the previews for the third one... I think it is going to be significantly weaker than the first two. But it will have its moments.

The villain in the second one had a back story and better motivations for what he was doing. The first villain seemed a bit too generic. Though the second movie has flaws: such as too much tragedy with his family being killed. Then at the end it fucks itself over by revealing that his father might be alive. It's like the movie can't decide what to do with the story.
