When people don't tell you what the stats are for weapons and armor that you're going to be buying, it drives me insane. A weapon could have 2 STR but 15 AGL and still show up as an upgrade in the menu to your 16 STR solely because of the base numbers. What do you do when you buy an item then realize you don't need it? Why, sell it back to the same merchant for half price, of course. GG micro-management.

All the info you'll ever need, open to all people regardless of language.

Yeah, that'd work really well. That's not a CMS or anything either, is it? Because I know those symbols aren't part of 2k3's default special symbols, yet seems like you're using the default menu/shop system?
When considering inventory and item management, it's always kinda of off putting when upgrading equipment is only available through shops, it feels mechanical and repetitive knowing that a large chunk of my effectiveness is distinctly linked to how much money I have after each dungeon. It falls into a pretty wack pattern.
Good Final Fantasy titles fall outside this are FFVI and FFIX, where finding items in dungeons and getting them through alternate means gives players a good choice between spending their gold on something shiny and new or going with what they found in a cave, both viable choices. I very much dislike games where store bought things are expensive as fuck and always inferior to things found elsewhere. I mean, why????
Alternatively, the SaGa games have a very interesting take on shops; most things are very expensive, but the player isn't meant to get most of their things from shops; you're supposed to explore, with shop bought equipment being a powerful, occasional reward for getting a lot of loot.

Yeah, I looked through my treasure list recently and noticed that my dungeons really actually don't give out new weapons like...very often at all. Armor is a bit more prevalent, but even that is kinda rare. Most of the equipment in my game seems to come either from buying it from the shop, or from stealing/winning it from bosses (I can't recall off the top of my head if some are gotten through regular enemies at all). I do have a crafting system that DOES allow the player to try and craft later equipment early on, provided they have the materials and money for it, but that thing needs revamped badly.
I feel that the expensive bit is what I fell under when I was revamping my shops heh. It's really hard to strike a balance with prices, and I even tried to follow FFVII's price logics (though sometimes the prices in that game are weird anyways...).

That's how it looks in my game so far, and it FEELS like it's about right, but at the same time, I'm not sure. The latest stuff (Pandemonium) is about 50-60% through the game so it's hard to really gauge the prices there.
Speaking of equipment, Chrono Trigger kinda does that too where you can get a lot of really good stuff from other methods (usually stealing with Ayla), so the shops kinda lose their purpose with equipment unless you really, really need that upgrade for someone or you don't know that something is coming up that you can steal/find. I'm trying to make it so that store-bought equipment is at least SOMEWHAT viable (for instance, the Nimbus 3000 weapon only gives +20 Attack, but gives like +30 Speed which is a looot of speed from one piece of equipment. In addition, I'm thinking of attaching other special effects to equipment like abilities, and some upgrade passives/commands too. I thought of doing something else with them, but I'm out of ideas of what atm heh).

Store bought weapons shouldn't be useless either, otherwise the player just straight up isn't going to bother! Honestly Liberty had really good advice at the beginning of the topic.
^ Best idea.
If you're a good designer, money always has a use for the player, even at the very end of the game, where perhaps they have the best inventory, but they still need to purchase other goods and services.
author=Liberty
For example, you start with an Iron Sword (base 10 damage), then in the first dungeon your find an Iron Sword +1 (14 damage, +Slow) and in the next town you can buy the Wrought Iron Sword (16 damage). Now this gives your player a choice - they could stick with the Iron Sword +1 or choose the Wrought Iron Sword - both have their pros and cons, and it depends on how the player wants the character to play as to whether they pick one or the other. Do they brute force it or do they choose to make use of the Slow status effect for a while longer?
This way weapons don't go through a constant phase of upgrading, and yet the option is still there for them to do so. Depending on money amounts, maybe they think the extra two damage for the Wrought Iron Sword just isn't work the cost and they hold out for the next upgrade. Maybe they didn't find the Iron Sword +1 and are jumping straight from 10 damage to 16 damage (which to them feels like a good upgrade).
Consider that kind of thing.

Yeah, I agree that's a good idea if the developer is able to pull it off using RPG Maker's formulas (2k3's is really crappy from what I know. IIRC they did the damage formulas and whatnot better in later versions? I wouldn't know but...). Even doing it vice-versa where storebought items have the special effects and dungeon items may not works too I think as well.
