RPG MAKER (AND OTHER INDIE GAME DEV) COMMUNITIES LIST

Let's face it: we've lost a lot of great sites over the years and with them some familiar faces and beloved games. It's been a while since RMN was created and over that time we've been lucky enough (and put in a ton of work) to rise to the top echelons of the English community when it comes to Indie Game Development sites that are friendly to all/most engines.

But we're not alone. There are still little bastions of gammak out there. Let's compile a list of these sites, both English and non-English.

To add a site to this list put up a working link, the name of the site and how active it is in comparison to RMN out of 10 (where RMN is about a 7-8), what it is best for (community/resources/scripts/hosting/exposure/etc), and anything special about it (RMW would be tagged as the official site, for example).

https://www.reddit.com/r/gamedev /r/gamedev: Resources, community, postmortems. Pretty much the most active gamedev community in the industry.
Does Kongregate count? Community, Hosting. All games on site are playable in browser, and most are in either Unity or Flash, with the odd Unreal game every now and then. I haven't been active on site recently, but it's still up and running, with thousands of players visiting every day.

I'd definitely second itch.io for a place to host your free & commercial games if Steam's not an option!

As far as communities go... I would definitely recommend gamedevs use Twitter as a way of keeping up with what's happening. If you keep your eyes open, you can find job opportunities, available artists, etc. It's how I've met new artists and kept in touch with a lot of people I've worked with :)
I probably should mention http://www.indiexpo.net/. It's a website with many games, including RPG Maker ones, uploaded there. I remember Pentagonbuddy and emmych's game, Free Spirits, is also uploaded there. Other games like Theia (Italian), Aedemphia (French) and Pocket Quest are also uploaded there.
what about, like, the Steam pages for the various engines?
You can browse the website siterank.me web checkto get the list of all websites you want. Just type your search term in the find bar that appears in the centre of the page, and then you'll get all the information you need quickly and accurately instead of doing manually

I'm sad at the lack of urls in this thread.

I don't know how to use/navigate reddit! D:
Surprised nobody mentioned Gamejolt. The forums are as dead as Michael Jackson but the site itself is good.

A good idea, Liberty. This is much appreciated and I was thinking about starting something similar myself.

I would like to mention Moddb (and it's spin-off IndieDB). It used to be very active in terms of gamepages. I've never participated in community, so i give it some 7.

RPG Maker VX Ace net should still work as a community. I'm not sure about activity or their branch of ReStuff. It has a new domain too. I think the activity is a good 3 or a poor 4.

I probably shouldn't start about official sites for other engines. These are usually very active, as long as is an engine popular.

Also, I would like to encourage people to post their national communities as i'm interested to see them and how active they are. German sites used to be quite a thing, same goes for French and Brazilian.
RPG2Heaven is the biggest Czech community. It has about 200 hundred members and activity is somewhere between five and ten posts a month. Can I go with 2 on the activity meter?

Liberty should know this, RPG Palace is still around. I guess it lacks administration as the activity on the site is 0.

I should remind everyone that while it is relatively abandoned and has no true active moderators or admins, TIG Source still exists. People still post there.
Guys, please. Please read the OP before throwing up suggestions. I can't really post much about sites and score them if I don't know what they provide. Just saying "yeah, people post there" or "my game's on there" doesn't tell much. :/

Ok let me try one more time then.

The TIG forums!

Activity rating: 4
Game making community, encompasses most code-centric engines like Game Maker, Unity, Blender, Unreal, Stencyl amongst others.
Forums have a place to discuss technical stuff, a forum dedicated to tutorials, another for devlogs for all sorts of games, a forum dedicated to announcing events, jams and competitions, and a few others for general discussion mostly.

Special: The master site, TIGSource, dedicates itself on highlighting notable recent indie titles, and it's a good way to keep updated about the indie game dev scene. Contrary to the forums, the main site is updated frequently.

HBGames should be included as a major RM community with their great Zines. I don't have idea how active forums are as I'm not a member there. I think it can be somewhere between rmrk and rmn. I visit it solely for zines.

What a Kloax!

Also, nobody mentioned Game Dev Fort! which still got pinned IGMC topics. I think, that it is a dying branch of RMW with its activity getting lower and lower. I would rank it with 3, it definitely is not a place to hang around. It has a discontinued blog and a store.

RMN should get a client! That's the future.

Edit: Why does nobody mentions Charas? GDU? RMO?
Edit Edit: Itch.Io has jams too and more sympathetic and easy to follow than Gamejolt.
