You are correct Neversilent! That's how the addition works!
So piano, you would add your charisma mod and proficiency bonus onto your roll (+3 and +2, making +5) changing your roll to a 9! Which still isn't that good.

Aldus looks at the horse and instantly recognizes it's aura as that of a unicorn, a chaotic good magical beast who typically resides in and protects large areas of forest. It despises evil creatures and those who harm the environment it guards too much. An non-mated Unicorn might bond with a virtuous and pure female and protect them as long as they live or the woman makes another, stronger connection with someone else.
Unicorns, in combat, use their horn to channel their spells and is their main method of attack. The horn Gores creatures and is particularly devastating on a charge. A unicorn's hooves are also dangerous and powerful. It has the ability to teleport anywhere within their forest territory as long as they are in that territory. The horn is valued by some less virtuous mages as a spell component.
-----Turn 5-----
Aldus commands the summoned creature to prevent the unicorn from moving. It lowers itself into the ground and glides through the stone floor gracefully and quickly, reaching the unicorn before Leara can. Leara still manages to make her plea before the summon gets to the unicorn and says
"Wait horsey! I'm nice! If I had an apple I'd give it to you."
The Unicorn looks disdainfully at the drow and it's horn glows. Leara and Aldus glow a faint blue in response, and a few prisoners in the cells on either side of the hallway glow grey and some glow red. The unicorn, in reaction to the summon, fiercely stomps on the summon below it. Ir rears in pain as it's hooves glow red in response to the damage it deals.

Falith gives up on the drow and leaves.

Aw, man. That's too bad, fearful. We didn't even get to interact yet...
Well, I can't force you to play with us, but I'm sorry to hear you want to leave.

So, what are we going to do now? Keep the game going with just two players?

Have you guys asked anybody else to join in to this? Two players is alright but it's not as fun as three or more. We can continue and I can introduce others who wish to join via PM to me. Honestly, it's up to you two if you wanna wait for a third or keep going. But if you will wait for a third, I hope you'll make an effort yourself to get someone to play.

In the mean time, I'm going to clean up the OP and Status Post to be less of a clusterfuck.

For the moment, NS and I might as well finish the scene since it's just the two of us anyway. I do kind of wish fearful had thought to come into the station. He might have had a bit more fun.

I made a status about it a while ago (which nobody reacted to), but otherwise I haven't really tried to directly ask anyone to join. I just don't really know who I should ask. Maybe one of us could make another post about it in the "What are you thinking about" thread?

I'm very much in favour of keeping the game going, though. Still, I do hope we can find at least one other player eventually. It should be possible, especially considering the amount of interest the other D&D thread (that never even got started) received.

I edited the top post with turn five, and I got a PM from someone else who wants to join. You guys can do your actions for this turn and the next I'll introduce the character somehow.

Is there a way out of the area without having to deal with the unicorn? I hate to just leave a potential familiar behind, but it's not a good idea to linger in a jail where you're definitely under arrest.

Aldus' chaotic magic effects don't tend to last for very long.

Don't worry, there's a good chance I'll accidentally summon another one at some point.

Really though, Aldus never intended to interact much with this unicorn for a long time, anyway. So I'll just gesture for Leara to maneuvre past the unicorn, doing so myself as well, while ordering my summon to stay between us and the unicorn at all time. It's so easy to get out of prison...

Also, while I have the time, I'd like to take a closer look at my summon and determine what kind of creature it is. I rolled a 2 and a 16, since I have advantage, so that becomes 16+8=24.

Yes, yes, yes! Let's get away from the unicorn and get out of here. Follow's Aldus' lead.

Oooo! I rolled a 15!

-----Turn 6-----

Aldus looks at his summon and recognizes it as a more shadowy form of a Magma Elemental. Their mere presence does not start fires, but a single touch can set anything a flame. Unlike a fire elemental, a magma elemental can move through earth at surprisingly fast speeds. They can cover a 10 foot cube with a lava puddle that burns anything trying to walk past. This puddle hardens after a few turns. It can also engulf a creature, dealing constant fire damage to the target and restraining them, making it so they cannot move and have disadvantage on attacks.

On command the magma elemental engulfs the unicorns feet, burning it. The unicorn whinnies harshly and tries to free itself of the magma, fire slowly creeping up it's legs. Aldus and Leara manage to squeeze their way past the stuck unicorn. When behind it, The magma elemental splatters everywhere as the unicorn breaks it's hooves free. It tries to kick back at the two fleeing and dents the wall next to Leara's head. The pair quickly scramble up the stairs, glad they made it unharmed.
They come up right next to the door and look out. The main hall is empty bar the desk-keeper, who is absorbed in book-work. They walk outside without notice and make it back to the middle of town. After a quick talk they agree to head to the mines, and begin their trek East.

Agnelia awakes.
The dream had been long and tense. The voices, the damned voices, never seemed to stop talking. And that thing... that abomination, it's presence was foul. The man... the robed man, the plane walker... He should be dead.
He needs to die.
She must kill him.
The proteans...
Her head aches as she recalls the dream, and gets up from her spot beneath a tree. Despite having absolutely no shelter, she was completely warm. The cold didn't bother her one bit, not even as the wind cut through her white robes and the snow melted into them. She had no idea how she got here, after the food ran out she went to find more and couldn't. She searched the woods for days and nothing came in sight, no one passed by. Now she was here, at the edge of the woods, overlooking an apparent mining operation.
How did she know what that was? There were no mines at the temple. No one ever spoke of "mines".
Further west she sees a town. It's Northwatch.
She shouldn't know that. She never learned geography, only magic and martial prowess. This should be new to her, she should be in wonder...
She just knew.

The pair begin walking down the road and exit the city with no trouble. The gate guards were glad to see the departure of the drow. She was bad luck, they had no doubts, and her absence would only be beneficial.
The snow started coming down harder as the wind picks up. The road is still visible, luckily, and it should be no more than an hour until they reach the mines.
Half an hour later, they hear a howl, very close by.

"Lovely! Wolves! Hopefully they can find tastier things than us." Travel along the road, wary of the wolves: look for items that may have been discarded or fallen.

Rolled a 7 with +5 to perception.
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

Ah! Hello! I'm Agnelia. We haven't met yet, so you can't hear this, I guess.

I curiously head towards the source of the howl, assuming it's close enough for me to hear, and not so close that it's already standing over me.

Welcome to the team, LockeZ! I'm glad you found your way over here.

-------------

Well, that wasn't exactly what I had in mind when I told the Magma Elemental to protect us against the unicorn... Those poor creatures.
Whatever, stranger things happen to me all the time. It's normal.
(I guess that since it sounded like my summon got killed, my spell is on cooldown now, correct?)

"Wolves, you say? Do you think I should make some snow taste like fresh meat to lure them away from us? Which reminds me, we didn't actually think to bring anything to eat with us from the town. Do you need food as a Drow? I'd imagine so. At least, I'm relatively sure I still need food from time to time."
For now, I'll just keep on walking next to Leara.

Hi-ho! LockeZ! A logical mind to join the abstract thinkers!

----------

Leara goes into a giggle fit. She manages to say, "If you'd like to decoy the wolves, I'd be grateful!" As she calms down, she says, "No, there's no way anyone at town would give us food after that mess; not as long as you're with me. My money isn't any good there, any more." Examine's the coin purse. "Say, I wonder how much I made?" She holds up her lute. "I don't suppose the wolves would donate some venison if I played sweetly enough. Mind you, if I still had my rebec, I could play a melody so sweet, the deer themselves just might leap into our hunting blades."

How much coin do each of us have?

"With pleasure." I cast Prestidigitation on a nearby patch of snow to give it the flavour of fesh meat.

As we walk away from that spot, I talk to Leara again: "Your assessment of the situation in the town might be correct. A surprising amount of people there seemed to be afraid of things they don't understand. As if that were even completely possible to begin with...
Can you really communicate with animals through music, though? Interesting. I' like to witness that some time. Maybe I should look into learning to play an instrument myself. Oh, but probably not right now, since we're trying to evade wolves and such.

(I don't think Aldus is currently carrying any money at all.)

"That was what we call 'bragging'. Although...my music has calmed animals. That might be an idea worth exploring. It is said that the great philosopher Orpheus played the lyre so sweetly that the trees themselves leaned closer to listen. Oh! They say there's a creature called a treant! It is an animal that looks like a tree and attacks passersby! I've never seen any, but I've heard stories."

-----Turn 7-----
Agnelia hears the howl a small distance away and immediately heads towards it.

Leara keeps a scrutinizing eye on her surroundings while Aldus waves his hand and makes a patch of snow ahead of them taste like fresh meat.

A few moments later and three white wolves burst from their cover and charge the duo, one with it's tongue hanging out, and pass through the flavored snow. The wolf with its tongue sticking out hesitates as it moves past the snow and starts to like it curiously before focusing on the hunt.

One wolf pounces onto Leara and bites her hard on the leg. The other wolf snaps its jaws at Aldus a bit too early and slams its nose into Aldus' leg harmlessly.

Agnelia quickly comes upon the scene unnoticed by the wolves or the duo.
