Got it, I'll scratch Tiefling from the list.

So I'll be playing a Dragonborn, Eladrin, or human Wizard or Warlock.

I am disappointed in how few options a first level Wizard has compared to a first level Wizard in 3.0/3.5. Also I miss bonus spells form surpassingly high attributes.

Nick, do you mind if we roll our stats, btw, or do you want us to use the confusing point buy system/the standard array? If it's the latter, that's fine, really. It's what I'm assuming.

I really do prefer the stat array, you'll have to post the stats first though, we don't want you to overpowered.
The standard array makes it easy anyway. 16, 14, 13, 12, 11, 10. Place 'em where you want and then apply racial modifiers, and you're done. At least I'm pretty sure that's the standard array.

Wait the point buy system is the same as the Standard Array right, because I liked the Point buy System the best.

Kinda. The standard array can be bought via the point buy system, so the point buy system implies a player can choose to go with the standard array if they want. Point Buy just lets people who want finer control over their stats tweak the standard array a bit, essentially.

Hm I see well, I just need everyone's Character Sheet and I can begin with a party of 4 PCs. We have a Wizard, Warlord, Ranger, Fighter?(Not sure, if GRS is keeping Wayne Kane)

Warlords are healers, Fighters are tanks, Rangers are damage dealers and Wizards control large groups of enemies. We've actually got a perfectly balanced party.

Sweet deal. Now I just need to actually make my character.
Was this on? I'm in the Ventrilo chat room but nobody else is around. I can't find the Maptools server either.
Sorry I didn't make it guys. I was at work until 7:30 and my family came in town just tonight and surprised me about having dinner tonight, so I didn't even get a chance to come home before you were supposed to start.

I missed this yet again. Maybe next weekend!
So whatever happened to the D&D game? I've been gone for a month or two and it looks like almost nothing has happened since I dropped out, unless you guys just stopped posting about it on the board.

Sorry for the Necropost, but I figured starting a new thread for the same subject would've been silly.

Is Shadowtext dead?
Only my body. I was fully absorbed into the Wired, but it wasn't until recently that I was able to start manipulating bits on the larger net.

The whole cyber-ghost thing is very liberating, though.
The immediate predecessor of Dungeons & Dragons was a set of medieval miniature rules written by Jeff Perren. These were expanded by Gary Gygax, whose additions included a fantasy supplement, before the game was published as Chainmail. Dave Arneson used Chainmail to run games where players controlled a single character instead of an army, an innovation that inspired D&D. Developed with Arneson's help from his modified version of Chainmail for his Blackmoor campaign, Gygax wrote "The Fantasy Game", the role-playing game (RPG) that became Dungeons & Dragons (D&D).

Many Dungeons & Dragons elements also appear in hobbies of the mid- to late twentieth century (though these elements also existed previously). Character-based role playing, for example, can be seen in improvisational theatre. Game-world simulations were well-developed in wargaming. Fantasy milieus specifically designed for gaming could be seen in Glorantha's board games among others. Ultimately, however, Dungeons & Dragons represents a unique blending of these elements.

The theme of D&D was influenced by mythology, pulp fiction, and contemporary fantasy authors of the 1960s and 1970s. The presence of halflings, elves, dwarves, half-elves, orcs, dragons, and the like, often draw comparisons to the work of J.R.R. Tolkien. Gygax maintained that he was influenced very little by The Lord of the Rings (although the owners of that work's copyright forced the name changes of hobbit to 'halfling', ent to 'treant', and balrog to 'Type VI demon '), stating that he included these elements as a marketing move to draw on the popularity of the work.
