I've found that greek yogurt has been an excellent weight loss aid for me. Just make sure you get the low-fat kind that doesn't have a bunch of added sugar.

Low-fat version of food are the ones you want to avoid because they make up for the lack of added fat with added sugar. Fat isn't what you want to avoid, calories are, and sugar is a lot of calories and too much messes with your metabolism.
Planks are fantastic. Situps suck. Better than doing nothing of course, but they're sub-optimal for a core workout.

Eh, not really. Sit ups are a great way to introduce yourself into dynamic core exercises and move towards building core/back strength. Obviously there's limits to what sit ups can provide but you can always start to include weights once you start to feel the progression slow down and eventually move towards phasing them out of your routine, but to say they flat out suck isn't true.
For a beginner I'd recommend doing a variation of different sit ups/crunches (to use each muscle group in your abs) while getting comfortable with more complex exercises involving medicine balls, decline benches etc.
No, sit ups are awful, because everything you just said about situps can be applied to planks, ab rollouts, without the undue strain on your spine.
Planks take the same amount of effort as situps for far better results, without spinal flexion. Spinial flexion movements have been tossed out by a lot of coaches because yes, while situps are better than nothing, I'd never knock someone for getting off the couch, comparatively though they're straight garbage because far superior movements take the same amount of effort.

Yeah, seriously. If I do a single set of sit-ups I can barely fucking stand up the next day due to back pain. It's mental.
I feel like planks are more motivating too. It's easier to see an improvement happening since it's just a straight timing thing. But that might just be me.

I do half sit ups and move my legs rather than my upper body. Similar work out without the stress. I'm getting a bit chunky and I'm trying to get a bike. That's about all I'll commit to so far(maybe less beer on the weekends).

It's been almost a week why haven't I lost 40lbs yet?
‘Biggest Loser’ drugged us so we’d lose weight
You need more drugs. That is the answer to everything.
So far for the last few days I've been managing 10 p, 15 crunches, 20 squats, and a 30 sec planks.
Man, those Planks are brutal, but they are a fantastic workout.
Also took a jog the other day - protip do not jog in the rain with too small boots.

kentona, your training regime must be inspired by One-Punch Man's training regime, isn't it? ;)
Only that his version is
LOL apparently at one point in my life I worked out more than One Punchman
When I was in highschool I did 150 push ups in 3 sets of 50 and 300 sit ups(technically crunchs which is slightly different) in 3 sets of 100.
He beats me in squats probably, in highschool it was more about how long you could hold a squatting position than how many you could do. Also I was never much of a runner and I don't recall my distance.
Now I barely do anything though. I am trying to do exercise again. I've very recently been doing 30 pushups in 3 sets of 10 and 90 crunchs in 3 sets of 30. Abdominal exercise has always been easy for me probably because I'm crazy skinny.
I've been walking for about 30 mins every other day.
Anyway Kentona, so long as you are consistent with that workout regime I think you are doing well. Eventually you may want to do things in sets of 3 but what you are doing now is good.
author=Soozauthor=PizzaThat's why I got my dad's treadmill.
Right now I just try to jog a lot. It's been my main form of exercise for around a year- I got out of it a bit during the winter for obvious reasons, but I'm getting back in now.
(And then rarely use it because, again, fuck cardio. Uni uses it tho so it's all good.)I should be doing more core exercise like planks too, but I always forget.
Planks are so great. I was doing situps before, but planks are a lot more fun. My yoga instructor showed a few variations, like moving the sides of your hips to the ground and back up, and I was like, "HOLY SHIT THAT'S AWESOME!"It also helps that I gave up soda about two years ago, and I don't eat much in the way of sweets. I have an issue with chips + hummus and pizza however, but I try to at least make allowances for it and make up for it otherwise, on days that I eat that stuff. Having a vegetarian diet helps with energy and avoiding unhealthy food as well. I basically never fry anything anymore, for instance.
Cutting sugar is a good idea in general.
I've had good results with keeping my portions down, and relying on unsalted nuts or mozzarella cheese sticks for protein snacks (hummus is also super great for this), and then using popcorn or rice cakes if I'm craving something like chips. Also FRUUUUUIIIIIT!
The weight training means I haven't lost any weight, but I have lost size; the chub's just slowly turning to muscle. :D
