CMS's can't really be taught. Truly, the best way to learn RPGMaker is to self-teach.
Don't just ask how to do something. Try to do it yourself first. If you totally can't, then find an example of someone else who did, and learn from their example. They experiment some more.
Playing around and looking through other people's games is the best way to learn; look up basic tutorials if you really know nothing.

If you are playing my game you will notice i have a cms so you can have a look at that if you wish. Other than that try games such as legend of the philosophers stone and final fantasy crystal wings. They both have very well made cms's.
Personally, I think you need to take some time just to play around in RPG Maker. Follow some of the biginner tutorials here and elsewhere (like http://rmt.divinelegy.com/).
A CMS is pretty advanced stuff for someone just starting out. (And unless you have a really solid game designed, usually not worth it!)

Thing is, ive used RPG maker for 2 or 3 years now(i just recently got back into using it a few months ago, i just never learned how to do anything other than the basics), I just don't know WHERE to script, in the common events area? I really just need to know where since it isn't labelled as 'Scripting' or 'script here' or something of that sort.
