But Deltree seems to have basically imploded after my review of The Tenth Line, and took down pretty much everything he made with no warning. I just... to say this was unexpected is an understatement. From the way that discussion went, I certainly didn't think someone with his design experience would suddenly react in this way.

Wait, what the heck? Deltree?! Of all people, I'd never have expected him to ragequit RMN. And he seemed so appreciative of all the support and feedback he's gotten for The Tenth Line on here, too. I don't understand at all...

And the whole Reconstruction series is gone, too. All of them were Featured Games, and really good ones at that. What a shame. I really hope he decides to come back. I'll miss him.
Deltree is an anagram of Deleter

(also, no, I did not notice. This is quite unfortunate! I was following his games and promoting them in the limited way that RMN can)
*gasp* You broke him! :o

But yeah, I hope he comes back.
Geez, that's... really shocking. I hope he will be okay. I wonder if it was something unrelated to the review? Because I just can't see the connection :/

Oh shit, I caught the review but didn't get that feeling.

Maybe he doesn't want the game connected to RMN?

I just logged into Slack for the first time in almost half a year, just to see if there was any news. Long story short, Deltree generously decided to put the gamepages for his old projects (all of which are Featured Games) back up. Hooray!

Well, at least he didn't ragequit...but I was really looking forward to The Tenth Line.

Yeah, I wanted to give it a play, but I was busy with my own projects ;_;

I think it's still going to be out on Steam and other platforms soon, though. You can keep an eye out for it there.

Yeah, that would've been embarrassing. Furries are known to do that.

The main problem with The Tenth Line is that in its current state, it feels hopelessly disjointed, in every way possible. It is certainly an ambitious game, and you can feel the effort put into every part of it - just as well as you can feel those parts cancelling each other out.

Yeah... I can see how something like this might get under the skin of someone who's commissioned professional art and who has a history of groundbreaking apps who's now stepping out into the bitter world of commercial development. It spells "you've gotta start over if you want it to work" and that's crushing. It's also impossible to tell now if the gamepage was full of critique or if everything seemed to be going swimmingly with this being the first big straw.

Reviews are serious business, man. Nobody is safe.

Uhhhh, yea, let's talk about that review. From what I skim-read you basically called what looked to me like an art project "disjointed." Whenever I see reviews like this, I think "I wonder what this guy's home life is like?" It must be kinda sad if you get off on giving someone 0 stars for what he must have spent weeks or months drawing and piecing together. I haven't even played this, and I get the sense that had it have been me who spent all of this time creating the menus, the characters, the items, the platforming, and everything else only to take about 3 hours for someone to come and completely tear it apart and not even rate it, this seems like a crappy time to stick around. Taking down all your other work? Yeah, I can see this happening.

So you COULD try to apologize. But they're probably already gone. Reviews don't care about polish or sunk cost. But maybe they should. So it has problems. Maybe even serious problems. If you give a review and it is 0/5, it had better at least be completely ugly and horrible. Otherwise, maybe bump it to at least 1.5

snipped for post above
Uh, yeah, let's talk about the review which was well written and pointed out issues with the game, as a good review is supposed to, especially for a WIP. Let's talk about how much time and effort went into writing that review and how NTC3 gave their tempered and well-reasoned opinion, and about how someone who doesn't bother writing reviews prefers to talk smack instead of trying to write their own reviews. If you did, you might realise that N/A does not mean 0/5, but that it is a WIP and giving it a score doesn't mean anything when it comes to a product that could change from what it currently was - it's actually the par-for-course to NOT score demo reviews precisely for that reason, and most reviewers AND game developers on the site prefer the non-score for demos.

You COULD try to apologise about making aspersions towards someone's home life and history based on a goddamn review, but quite frankly, I doubt you will. It must be kinda sad that you get off on making such allegations against someone who spent a lot of time writing up a cohesive, well-thought-out and easy-to-understand review. Please leave this thread and stop talking shit about things you self-confessedly know nothing about.

I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

If you spend time on something that sucks, that doesn't entitle you to have your shitty work appreciated. If you're reviewing a game based on how much work was put into it instead of based purely on the end result, you're doing all the players a terrible disservice and you shouldn't be allowed to write reviews.

It sucks, but the fact of the matter is that 99% of games are unplayable garbage, and 95% of developers will spend their entire lives making nothing but unplayable garbage. RPG Maker games are at the bottom of that already rotting barrel. If you want your work to be worth more than zero stars, it needs to be the best damn thing on the website this year.
I am sure Deltree put a lot of work into the project and yes it can be tough, but the review seemed pretty fair to me. A little harsh but it if it had not been then Deltree would not know what to fix. So, in a way, it is a good thing.

It makes the game stronger and better.

look in the mirror my friend

And yeah, I thought the review was pretty fair and well written. But people tend to fall harder when the stakes are higher.
